Gaming Flashing the firmware and updates for the 360

I am wondering...everygame I put into the 360 says there is an update available for it and I always choose not to do it. I am curious though asto what the update is and what is does. Has anyone tried it?
I'm afraid id might kill my dvd drive firmware hack....please help

Do it. it doesn't hurt the dvd drive firmware at all. I always update my games, and I've never had a problem with live.

Lol, those are just updates for the game. It's irrelevant to your modified drive.

just updates inprovments to the game itself i.e fallout 3 just released an update to fix a bunch of glitches and get ready for the new dlc, as well as a whole bunch of games, same f/w hack here - and all my games are updated.

The updates also fix bugs (something I find incredibly ironic), not to mention play via xbox live mandates such a thing.

Just thought I might add MS made it impossible to update the drive via the 360 (why we have to pull it to flash it).
