The problem is that when saving the save stays, when you reboot the GBA the save is still there, but once you take out the cartridge and slide it in again... The save disappears? When opening up it seemed as if the whole battery socket is loose, so I thought reinserting it would be sufficient, but the issue persists. Can anyone tell me what do? Solder it?

The cartridge is most likely a reproduction though, I'm in serious doubt.

Save really only disappears when taking out the cartridge, rebooting doesn't cause it to disappear.

That's an exceptionally small image. It's almost impossible to tell what I'm looking at.

But yes, that is a counterfeit. A 2004 GBA game wouldn't have used a battery-dependent save, and no genuine GBA cartridges have those black blobs on the circuit board. Still, that battery should be soldered into place in order to maintain a consistent connection.

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
