Hacking EZ Flash 4 Lite - keeps updating

Hello guys,

I have a Ez4 Lite, I got the latest update .bin file and put it on the micro sd card, restarted the nds while holding the right shoulder button. Update went OK, but after that every time I boot the ds it keeps updating again and again. I deleted the .bin file, this time it asks for the .bin file.

Before the update, ez4 was working.

I think its an issue about ezpass, when I remove ezpass I can boot to gba screen. With ezpass, it tries to update ez4lite...

From what Fast6191 has said, the latest update removes DS mode. Unless you are trying to use it as a DS flash cart (not a very good choice for a DS flash cart in this day) there is no reason to launch it into DS mode anyway. In fact, launching GBA games in DS mode from the EZ4 was always flakey at best.

Get a cheap DS flash cart, if that's what you want it for, but at this juncture I can only recommend the EZ4 as a GBA cart only (booted in GBA mode).

Downgrade it.
But I think it would be better for you to get an R4i or something like that.

You can unpack the bin file and add DS loading bin data. This can be done with the skin tool.

If you add the DS loading bin data, your likely limited to 2GB of the microSDHC.

well, I bricked my ez4 lite...

I found a dump of its firmware, named it as ezfla_up.bin, booted while holding R button. Now it stucked at %11 percent...

Is there a way to rescue?

Simple guide by Jack-Of-Trades

And not realy much explanations there...

1. Download/Create Skin
2. Place in EZ-Skinner directory (Most skins don't come with a .bin not to mention there firmware if the do are out of date)
3. Place Most up to date Kernel you can find In the folder
4. Run Skinit.Bat (may just be called skinit depending on settings)
5. Take the new EZfla_up.bin and place in the root directory of you sd card (in other words when you pop in your sd the first window that pops up is where you place it Most of the times it's E:/)
6. Hold down R Then turn on your gameboy
7. Let it flash undisturbed (and don't turn it off while updating obviously

)
8. It will be restarted into the new skin enjoy

I would have assume your going to extreme measures to run NDS from slot2, like you have a 2GB slot 1 flashcart or something. It is mostly crippled by today's standard, you can't use NDS cheats unless you hard patch the rom and a few other things as well.

how_do_i_do_that thanks for your great help. My ds does not detect ez4 lite now. I tried an old ez4 and it is working.
What I found out that is when ezpass inserted, ez4 lite/ez4 tries to upted itself automaticaly.

I will try the above if I can manage to fix my latest (ds does not recognize ez4 chart)ez4 lite issue...
