Homebrew Error starting FBI from the homebrewlauncher (and some n3ds rxTools bugs?)

Have you ever even seen/heard of this error?

While attempting to use the homebrewlauncher version of FBI on a New 3ds, I encountered an issue that seems to not exist on the rest of the internet. Here's my google search to "prove" it.
well_fuck_me.png

My Error is as follows:
"Fbi has encountered a fatal error!"
"Failed to set syscore CPU time limit: D8E05BF4"
"Press any button to exit."

I've gotten this error on vanilla sysnand (Menuhax->CTRBootManager->HBMenu->FBI)
and on rxtools pasta sysnand (Menuhax->CTRBootManager->rxTools(version, currently 3.0beta2)->Pasta->Menuhax->CTRBootManager->HBMenu->FBI)

I'm trying to get to FBI so I can install some GBA cia's on sysnand so they run on the reinand rednand that's setup. The reason I don't try to install FBI over sysnand health&safety is that when I try to, I get the errors "Opening SercureInfo_A... Failed!" and "Opening SecureInfo_B... Failed!", and it doesn't give me the option to install it. Yes, I'm aware this was "fixed" with this or that rxTools version. I've tried 4 different versions of rxTools (2 nightlies, official 3.0, beta 3.0) and get the same errors each time.
Also, blackscreen when I try to run FBI through rxmode sysnand.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME IT'S DARK AND SCARY AND I'M ALONE IN THIS APPARENTLY UNIQUE ERROR

Use a different cfw, rxTools is the worst cfw rn. Also, try injecting FBI into h&s with decrypt9. Theres a guide somewhere on here for making your own (search universal inject master and you can probably find it)

You could solve this by setting up arm9loaderhax with updated sysNAND. You only have to install GBA cias once and the patches are inbuilt into Luma CFW. You'll have a lot of trouble getting help for rxTools as it's outdated now. For the a9lh guide, search google for plailect a9lh guide (it's a GitHub page).

I have that and it's already setup, but I don't think that can inject to sysnand. If I'm wrong please by all means correct me
[edit1]
OK YOU WERE RIGHT
I check decrypt9 again, and realized: maybe it would help to select "sysnand settings" when I want to inject it into sysnand"

I'm doing this on a friend's 3ds and therefore don't feel like messing with a9lh. The only reason I use rxTools is dumping certain things, injecting FBI, and running Pasta to install gba cia's. This was mostly for the FBI issue, actually.

You're not alone anymore at least! i've just encountered it myself.

For me it happens on an o3DS running Luma, so it's definitely not something related to rxTools.
I'll try injecting it tomorrow with Decrypt9 and then we'll see what happens. Maybe an older version of FBI might also solve it, considering how recent your post is.

I'll let you know if i get anywhere.

Maybe.
Hey, can you upload a screenshot? I wasn't able to because of the fact that it was a time based thing (I don't have that 3ds on me anymore), and I think people need to see what it LOOKS like.

I'm doing this remotely too, so no i can't.
I did however solve it by putting FBI on the SD card again, so i guess it's a corruption bug of some sort. I checked the hashes of the zip files, which were identical, so maybe something went off during the copying to the SD card

Or to be more precise, we first went down to older versions which worked, and then the latest one started working.

(Actually I never got it working, I ended up injecting it into H&S and it worked there)

Just downgraded my 03ds from 9.5 to 9.2. Im now in the process of setting up emunand. I loaded the pastacfw which ran fine it goes back to Home menu. then go back to HBL to launch FBI, but that is what I am getting. Failed to set syscore cpu time. I tried to replace the fbi 2.2.0 with the previous version and still the same thing

What have you tried so far? And what are you trying to install (just a name that I can search on that iso site will be enough)
it showed that error directly after boot. No menu was loaded, just straight to error.
Found a solution. Just install the lower version specifically FBI 1.4.17
It was that version.

Don't remember. I don't have access to the 3ds anymore, and I never got the chance to take a picture.

Damn.

I think it was 2.1 though.
That is probably why... FBI (afaik) currently is built for 2.5 (or whatever it is). I don't know the details, but I'm pretty sure smea expanded the available memory between 2.1 and current. Someone more reliable can probably correct me though. Just use 1.4.xx if you are going to continue to use 2.1

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)

    run h2testw on it
