Hey,
I just read something on a Dutch site about the DSi:

Naast AAC bestanden kunnen nu ook MP3 bestanden worden afgespeeld op de Nintendo Dsi, rechtstreeks vanaf het interne geheugen van 256 megabyte. De DSI bevat een koptelefoonaansluiting, maar eveneens ingebouwde stereospeakers, die zelfs een surround geluid kunnen simuleren. Met de ingebouwde microfoon kan je zelf geluidsclips opnemen en bewerken.

Translated, it says something about: Beside AAC support, the DSi will also support MP3 files now. They will be played straight of 256 megabyte internal memory.

Well, is this true, or is it just a stupid mistake? I guess the last one...

Even if this were to be [emphasis] true [/emphasis], it noted internal memory. A staggering, unprecedented 256 MB of that. But how would that work? Copy files from SD card onto board? Sounds like a hassle. Besides, a DSi shouldn't even have MP3 playback imo, shitty ass battery. Despite my predictions, I believe this lead to be false.

According to the official Nintendo site in Greece: "DSi will play AAC music which is a type of MP3".

But perhaps a firmware update some where along the line will introduce mp3 playback, and of course some hack to kill flashcarts!

So far, it isn't able to play MP3's, but who knows what they might bring us with DSware.....Maybe there will be some MP3 player in the future...however, I doubt it!

You can still play off some MP3 files using your DSi flashcart, but I have a question about that:

Is the quality of the sound from playing MP3 files improved, because the speakers are improved?

i hope this isnt going to get like the PSP, with each firmware update canceling out another, except for this its flashcarts.
