This is like a game to Nintendo now, like, I bet the employees are betting on how long each console gets hacked. They pretty much accepted their fate. They try once, twice, then they just give up.

This is barely a first step to hacking. This is only decrypting the things that have already been encrypted in the first place (everything) and some of the better hackers already had it for a while (most likely). With the key, we just need to look for exploits to run DSi code, which, depending on how secure the DSi's code is, could take a short time to a long time to never at all (though the latter is an extreme impossibility).

Basically, Nintendo isn't [censored] by this move: this is the equivalent of poking their junk while they still have clothes on. The next step would be figuring out how to unzip their pants, THEN [censored] them... if you get my analogy

.

EDIT: Oh, of course! The latter word is censored, yet the "-ed" equivalent isn't. Nice

Wait. The tool. Where's it put the DSi's key? It's the .bin file it makes in the same directory.

PS: what the hell, is it possible that the key has been known since...September 2009???? What the crap, guys? The people that found it out don't want to encourage piracy.

BTW: This just killed iEVO. Now any flashcart can be run in DSi mode soon.
Good job on totally mising the large size underlined italicized red text that's been posted multiple times in the thread stating that is NOT what this key does.

Lol'd as well.
"News flash; everybody that's NOT on our own hacking team is an idiot and completely incapable, so it MUST be a leak!"

I wonder if Microsoft is about to have their 360 keys discovered soon. I don't assume their system is secure enough to nto fall soon as well.

*At a Microsoft employee reunion*

Microsoft employee 1: Mwhahahaha, Sony and Nintendo are all falling, their keys are out there.

Microsoft Employee 2: At least, our keys are still secure in the safe behind me ...

*Microsoft Employee 1 and 2 turn around

Microsoft Employee 1: Wait, who the hell is that guy !!!!!

Microsoft Employee 2: Stop it now !!!!!

Microsoft Employee 1 and 2: Too late, they got us, we're done for.

muhuuaaaaa...should sony lose in court about the PS3's key, then the same would happen if nintendo challenged it. and after that...we'll move on to the 3DS, THEN THE WORLD!!!

Okay guys, umm I have no idea how to do any of this so... It would be neat if someone here made a guide without having to show the key.
Pwease? :3

i wasnt gonna post, but after 12 pages of "OMG HAX WE CAN HAX DSI NAO!" i just had to chirp in.

The people that can read ARM9 assembly have had the common key and decrypted all the interesting DSi software ages ago. While i applaud their effort to find another strcmp level retardation on ninty's part, i do join everyone else in the collective want for DSi homebrew. The common key really cant help them though until Ninty makes a mistake like they did with the Wii.

For those just tuning in, common key lets smart people read everything thats going onto the DSi and look for exploitable flaws, but NOT change anything, so we cant "make" exploits.

What the common key being released MIGHT be good for:
Updating emulators with DSI support (read ARM ASM, make IA32 ASM, TADA!)
Costing Ninty extra bandwidth money as we all download random ass titles from NUS.
Costing blasty money (gotta drink those woes away)
Letting everyone else on gbaTemp know you are an idiot.

Back to lurking. carry on.

Okay guys, honestly I don't know what to do..
I managed to open the EXE that generates the dsikey.bin for me and I generated it.
I opened that NUS downloaded garbage and whatever, and I clicked DSi at the bottom. It says DSiCommonKey detected. I didn't select anything at the bottom and I just clicked Start Download (I think I'm supposed to) but it keeps giving me error 401 Unauthorized or something. I tried running as admin too.. Help please??
Also, what do I do after that?

You don't do anything with it. It's for devs.

This does not let you pirate games, as was posted multiple times in the thread in large italicized underlined red text.

Homebrew, all I want is homebrew for playing videos.Homebrew update for VNDS would be fine too.So I don't care if I can't pirate as long as good homebrew comes.

It might let you play DSiWare games on your PC once the DS emulators are updated to support DSi emulation.
