The box reminds me of Snatcher. That would be a nice port.

oh yes! that game is awesome! i played it on an emulator on my pc a really long while ago and it was so good, i played through it in one night. i just couldn't go to bed before i finished it.
there is a pretty decent sega megacd emulator for the psp. i think i'll play snatcher that way in a portable version

There is a "pilot" episode ported.

As for this "game", fount it very boring, pretty much a cookie cutter crime game. Didn't really do much in it, a little more than an interactive novel. Also feels real cheap too & there are some bad translation moments. Ok there are three less cases but in my opinion the three that are there aren't welcome.

Yeah, da_head, you should try Hotel Dusk. It is a time commitment and it does have it's slow moments, but it's about the best game of it's genre.

Hotel Dusk is about the only game of its genre.

Trace memory anyone? Well, I guess it's probably made by the same people as hotel dusk so it doesn't count.

Must be quite funny for some guy who did a few porn films 10 years ago to suddenly see the hits on his IMDB page go through the roof. Shows the non-hype this game has that porn-star Jake is the second hit on google.

Is this the (U) version of Tantei Jinguji Saburo DS : Kienai Kokoro (J)?

Video:

About the cases:
Episode 1The Petty Murder of a Fragile Heart

A murder has taken place in Aspicio City’s peaceful Central Park. Jake’s longtime friend, Detective Scott Kingsley, implores Jake to help solve the case. Can Jake uncover the killer’s true motive?

Episode 2Seaside City Conspiracy

On a quiet night, Jake gets a call out of the blue as a hysterical man pleads with Jake to find his missing girlfriend, Eva, in the harbor city of Depono. What seemed to be a routine missing persons case, will lead him down a dark path of deception…

Episode 3Crash and Burn

A story about love, betrayal and death in the fast lane. Jake Hunter’s skills will be put to the test, as he attempts to solve a murder case at the top racing circuit in Ceteri, where rivals, ex-lovers and friends are all suspects.

It's barely a game, I've played the first three chapters of the first story and it's impossible to get stuck. If you try to leave an area where you haven't found a clue or talked to everyone, it doesn't let you. You can press L any time and he smokes while telling you what to do, not that you'll ever get stuck.

It's an interactive novel but it doesn't read like a novel as it's all just short sentences. I'll probably finish the game as I loved Phoenix Wright even though this game is nothing like it apart from lots of reading.

I believe a major part of it, yes.

Not that the English translation is likely great. It's published here by a rather new company who hasn't released much of anything noteworthy. Just niche titles like Guilty Gear XX Accent Core and Castle of Shikigami 3. I've heard the latter was translated pretty bad...

I didn't even think of doing that. Thanks for the idea.

Well, that's a very good point, Mewgia. hotel dusk is really pretty unique. You can make a stretch and say games like Phoenix Wright, Trace Memory, and Undercover are in the same genre, but even those are different. I really believe if a writer with half a brain and a talented artistic team got together, they could make more quality, deep novel-type titles like Hotel Dusk. Unfortunately, just as in the motion picture industry, the really great "indy" movies are the best, but they don't make all the millions of dollars that the shallow, special-effects jerk-off-session blockbusters make. If more of the masses supported those titles, more would be made. It's always about the $$$$$.

This game uses the same, repetitive cheesy jazz music track for every single area.

And it also has this message if you examine a gang member at some point in the first chapter: 'As I looked closer I noticed that the man's chest had the word "LEET" written across it.'

You may want to keep that word in mind when looking through the main menu.

I hate that they reduced the cases for the American release, stupid move on their part. Still, you guys have me worried now. Even though they cut the cases it can't be that bad, right?

Edit: nvm, I just played it and it isn't that great.
