Do you watch movies that you have already watched so you can do stuff in the background?

sure, better than a real tv program as background noise.
the quality of real tv fell so hard over the last 10 years
Last 5 years I can stand to hear an argument for. Last 10 years though... that is harder to stand by a claim of.
Had all sorts of long form TV happen or peak during that which in many ways eclipsed anything normal films were doing. Many of those lost their way during the last 5 years but as a whole the last 10 years is going to be right up there in terms of best "TV from decade". That is not to say 2005 to 2010 were not spectacular though and raised the bar massively.

i know i exaggerate i bit, but i pretty much didn't watch broadcast tv for the last 10 years anymore.
switched to amazon prime video & netflix and other sources.
the only exceptions were:
- formula1, because there was a free broadcast
- nhk world, since i can receive that

and i don't mean that in the sense that the quality of tv productions is always bad.
we all know of the high quality series the last 10 years have brought us
BreakingBad or Game of Thrones, just to name 2

and i specifically say that about german tv, even if some of my accusations also work on foreign tv (which i do not receive)
at least the accusation about too much "scripted reality"
german tv sometimes treated series like FOX treated Futurama 20 years ago, (maybe it airs, maybe not).
also tv commercials for various love toys (non explicit) in the afternoon

some my complaints are more about brodcast tv in general

maybe i'm getting old

Can't say I have watched much German TV in that timeframe. However as every other country in Europe, ones far smaller than Germany, seems to have realised actually whatever it is to rent a RED camera for a week, adobe stuff is good enough, pay maybe 3 actors (seriously watch the background in any such show and tell me about the extras they have) and tell some stories we can compete with the Americans, and often do -- I am seeing any number of fun shows from Norway, Denmark, France, Spain, Italy and beyond.

In the past I’d just load Kodi up with a bunch of TV show rips I’ve watched and set it to shuffle.

Stuff that I can keep running constantly but go in and out of depending on the circumstance e.g. a quick break from studying on my computer without being a long distraction.

Sure I’d also listen to music, but there are times when I like having something to look at away from the monitor.
