They work very well. Without them, my laptop's internal fans always turn on and they make a huge racket. I prefer a cooling pad since they're unnaturally quiet and they prevent my laptop from overheating or having to use its own fans.

It runs pretty hot. 83c when playing some games and I elevated it (about 5-7cm up)

I can personally say they work for me. I have a cheapy targus from walmart.

While I can say, skip the targus and get another brand, it brought down my temps drastically. My laptop used to make my legs sweat it would get so hot. So look to spend about $30 to $40 USD for a good one.

I think logitech has a new one out that has some good reviews.

hope this helped. Have a good one and good luck in your search.

My old machine would have died years ago if not for my Artec dual fan pad.

+cookies to anyone who can find a cooling pad model that will work for a qosmio x305... its a 17" monitor, probably 19' wide in total, but the kicker is that the intake fan is on the bottom, outbound is on the back of the unit...

My laptop turns into the sun when its running off the battery but apple says its ok so w/e.

As far as cooling pads go, yeah, anything to get that heat off the processor is good good good.

Mine is extremely quiet, but you can still hear it. Although like I said, if you don't have one then your laptop's internal fans will turn on when your laptop gets too hot, and those are very loud.

Like the above poster said the one I got is extremely quiet. The laptops fan is much louder than it especially when the CPU starts heating up a lot
