Hacking Dios Mios vs Burning To DVD

so i have wind waker, the game disk (and an iso) and i have paper mario in an iso only form, since my disk is scrateched beyond repair. I Would like to play my GC Game's with the audio streaming enabled, which as far as i understand, dios mios wont do, even if i play from a disk. Is there a way to burn a gc iso to a regular disk and have it play perfectly, as if i was using a real retail disk on a regular wii? Also, will I be able to use my GC MEmory card save for paper mario? All the guides i found were outdated.

For your info: Zelda and mario don't have audio streaming.

Playing the retail game from disc with DM/L will have audio streaming working correctly.
If you want audio streaming with burned disc, you need a compatible modchip (Wikey1 and YAOSM), and a compatible drive/chipset/mother board.


You can use your official/regular memory card for all games.

ok, thanks. So i can play zelda and mario, and if I play star Fox, it would play just like if i dont install DIos MIOS? In other words, theres no downside to putting on dios mios lite?

only downside is:
if you install DIOS MIOS, you need to plug a USB device to launch a disc-based game.
if you install DIOS MIOS Lite, you need to plug an SD card (but almost everyone already have one in the Wii)

Ok. So I figure this stuff out based on fragments of guides an I installed my dios mios 2.0 lite wad using the standard iOS on wanikokos wad installer 1.7. It would not work on usb loader gx even though it showed up. It said wrong coos please update your loader, which it is. I read I need ios236, can I safely uninstall dios mios to do this again? Or do I need to install mios from nus downloader?

Cyan, can you elaborate on what you said about the correct chip and drive? I've never been able to play Star Fox Adventures right.

Well, modchip works with specific chipset (DMS, D2A, D2B, etc.)
If you wii has a newer chipset, you can't modchip it.

Wiikey 1 works only with DMS/D2A/D2B.
YAOSM works with D2A/D2B.
Other modchips doesn't work with audio streaming, so you are limited to 3 Wii model if you want audio streaming with burned disc.

Alternative is to use retail disc and/or Devolution.



Newer wii/drives can't even read DVD-R at all, so installing a modchip will not help you play burned disc.

It has nothing to do with being able to play Star fox.
If you can't play a game, it's not a hardware issue (chipset, modchip, drive, etc.), but a user issue (HDD, software, settings).

the auto-update in the loader doesn't work. update manually to r1218.

you need anything able to install wad files, that's all. If you can install wad, you already have what you need. don't install cIOS.

cyan, what is the latest version of usb loader GX, The Google Code Page for it says 3.0, how can i get this newer version? My Dios Mios lite is 2.10, which i installed today from the google code page. Also the exact message was "Incorrect config version. Please update your loader!"

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I can't play Star Fox Adventures with the audio stream; the game itself is ok.

I've tried to load it multiple ways (http://gbatemp.net/threads/loading-star-fox-adventures-with-audio.296687/#post-3713604) but no luck. One of these days I'll pick up a retail disc and give it a go.

Like I said, only two modchip supports audio streaming for "non-retail" discs.
Wiikey 1 (with specific firmware), and YAOSM.
