Continuing on the partnership with Nintendo established in 2015, DeNA will be working with The Pokemon Company to release a smartphone game. This was revealed in DeNA's fiscal year results, showcasing success for existing mobile games using Nintendo IPs, and projections for the future. Details are slim, but the briefing tells us that the app will be a "new and exciting" game based on Pokemon, with more set to be revealed later this year, and a release slated for before the end of this new fiscal year. So far, the partnership between both companies has resulted in successful titles such as Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and the upcoming Mario Kart Tour.

It's not that it's a mobile Pokemon game. It's that it's made by DeNA. Their games aren't necessarily awful, but they are pretty bad. All they have going for them is graphics, most of which are ripped directly from nintendo's own titles.

Fire Emblem Heroes is alright IMO. I mean it's no substitute for the actual games, but it's a fun way to kill time when you're out.

To be fair I haven't played that one. But I have played other character collecting games, and generally I find them a big waste of time. You're grinding for graphics with stars on them. In terms of gameplay they aren't the most exciting. The ones that do have gameplay have it as a bare minimum, with very basic gameplay. It's not something that you can really put on a resume to say "I make good games".

Hope not. The Super Mario Run model is the way to go. Pay once, get everything. No annoyance, doesn't feel like a cheap cash grab.

Not happening. Nintendo said that Super Mario Run sold "below expectations." Free to play will be the future of mobile for them
