am I the only one who understand it? (well, not the game, but the psychiatric/psychologic meaning of the title, and all the hidden elements in the videos?)
no idea about the story, it's still a mystery for a reason.
it's all about shared link and bond with other people. the "strand" is the cord linking two people socially, the link you (probably never thought about*) instinctively do when you meet someone and then later pick up (search/choose from your internal memory of met people) when you think about that person again. you follow your link up to that person, connecting each others mentally, or psychologically?. it's what lets you differentiate people you think about, for example you could think what differentiate people is their face or physical & visual elements, but if you know real twins you'd know you don't differentiate them by their physical but more by their psychological, you know they are two different entities and you just "link" your social strand to the one you think about.
If I talk to you about someone you never met, or just give you a random name, you'll not create any strand with that person. it'll not be linked to anyone you know. once you meet that person, you'll have a bound. meeting or just "eye contact" with a stranger makes that bond. (this is also what's been depicted in sense8 series, eye contact is enough to get a bound)
Strand is the main focus on "Persona" game series. you are making social bound with others and sharing that bound gives you power.
* strand is a concept I found myself by knowing me and analyzing all my feelings and social disability, I'm asocial and have problem talking to people and creating bonds. I visually imagined that bound with a cord, and since that game's trailer I learned that it actually existed as psychological term and was called strand. that strand is what makes it hard for me to talk and meet new people, it's hurting me to create new strand, like it might be sewed into me. I feel the same for places and locations, not only livings.
if you look in the videos, there are umbilical cord all over (even in the game's title itself), it's the string attaching people all together. they are using babies (which have umbilical cord?) to perceive other's strands and find/see others.
There are also time passing effect rain, death and reborn. I don't have any though about that yet.
I don't tell I understand what Ideo kojima wanted to tell, that's just the way I see it so far.
you're all free to criticize or mock me up now. and I just went offtopic
