Hello everyone, I have discovered something tonight that kinda bummed me out a tad bit. So as usual I was doing my normal business with the cheat databases, was actually adding some really cool cheat codes that a lot of Pokemon players will enjoy once I get the database out there for everyone. Well the situation is in regards to Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver and their regional variations. HOWEVER this problem can occur with other games in the future. So let me get to it already, as you all know the usrcheat database and of course all the other older databases have served us well over the years, especially since there isn't a set limit on how big the databases can be. However I found out that there is indeed a limit on how many cheat code lists per game can have at once, NOT turned on (obviously the RAM couldn't handle having so many cheats on at once), I am merely meaning just the codes themselves when you go to select the ones you want to use. I figured this out just a few minutes ago when I added my new codes for Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver and ran the games with and without enabling cheat codes, Pokemon HeartGold (SoulSilver has the same amount of codes so SoulSilver included) crashed and unfortunately through process of elimination, it was due to having too many cheat codes in the list for this game. Now there is only one way to fix the issue, and I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hate the fact that I have to say this, but unfortunately I will have to delete, yes DELETE, some codes for Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. I hate deleting codes because a lot of this stuff took a lot of work to put together, some codes that I didn't make were either lost in internet history or something along the lines, other codes were improved, newly created codes were obviously added. It sucks that there is a limit on how many codes you can have in a list per game, HOWEVER that doesn't mean a huge chunk will have to go. Currently without deleting anything the HGSS cheats are 264KB of raw data (sounds small I know but this is raw data we are talking about here). So from the tests, a 250KB+ cheat code list is to much for any game to run with or without cheats enabled. So I gotta shave it down a little bit, as usual though there is no limit on the database size itself so I can continue to make it grow. I will probably delete some of the codes I made in order to stay under the limit.
By the way if anyone asks me, NO the codes I made did not cause this issue as these cheats work perfectly fine for one, two I made these codes work for other Pokemon games as well and they load in the list and work fine in game. Obviously the game loads too lol.
