WOW this looks great, love how you kept the bottom screen simplistic

Can I upload the theme to your page? Thanks :)

I have a request. Could someone please post a zip of all the BMPs they fed into the theme generator, complete with white space, to use as a template?

That thread says 400 x 240 at (0,0) in a 512 x 256 BMP for the top screen and three 320 x 240 images horizontally from (0,0) in a 1024 x 256 BMP. This thread is now saying either 412 x 240 at (0,0) or 400 x 240 at (6,0) for the top screen, and lower screen should be 1008 x 240 for one of the two? I also don't understand how transparency works in custom folder icons and can't find a description for their size or anything in a tutorial.

So yeah. Could someone who has figured all of this out please post the finished big BMPs they used for all screens, borders, folders and icons?

e: I guess the 1008x240 is only for scrolling images on either screen. Here is a page on 3Dbrew that gives a lot of dimentions, but says 412 x 240 forthe top screen rather than 400 x 240 at (6,0):

Here's what I use as template for simple themes(Static images):

upper screen:
rdhEnii.png
lower screen:
LJgJiws.png
(lower right corner colors are used to properly set the image in place)

edit:
also as a note, they show incorrectly on simulators on both YATA and custom theme tools but they work properly on the console

edit2:
imgur refuses to upload bmp images so these are in png format. So just convert those bmp :)

Hopefully this helps

Thanks so much. I'm confused about some things with the bottom screen template you posted. Why is the 320x240 for the bottom screen is in the middle rather than upper-left corner? I was also under the impression that when using this size (1024x256) for the bottom screen, you would either have three images (totaling 960x240 of the 1024x256) that give a 'flipbook' effect when changing pages, or one big image (1008x240 of the 1024x256) that would scroll along the bottom screen. According to that wiki I linked a single image for the bottom screen should be 320x240 of a 512x256 image.

If you say it works then then great. There's just so much conflicting info.

I also want to know if when using this template, will the top screen for sure not have any pixels offscreen, vertical bars of blank space, or a small white rectangle in the upper left?

I also still don't get how transparency works with the custom icons and folders.

The lower screen is 3x 320x240 images side by side. So first image over the black box, second over the white box with the text, and the third image over the second black box they all have colored dots on their lower right corner for setting them on their right places.

If you want just one lower screen image you have to put the same image on all 3 spots.

Also, upper screen has been tested so that it doesn't leave anything out or add anything extra outside the picture.

for example:
original image: http://i.imgur.com/1SyqEdH.png
simulator image: http://i.imgur.com/KBZhCoE.png
3DS image: http://i.imgur.com/QIOPbhN.jpg

if you zoom in the 3ds image you can see pretty clearly the 1 pixel wide blue edge all around the picture and there's nothing beyond it.

Hopefully this cleared things a little bit.

I thought I'd try my hand at making a theme, and I think it turned out fairly well. This is a theme for the forthcoming album by The Prodigy, "The Day Is My Enemy" with a loop from the title track.

Hear the music before installing theme:

Download the theme: http://www.mediafire.com/download/m17a17kwsn82qni/DayIsMyEnemy.zip

Edit: I don't know how to show screen elements on the simulator :*(
Here's a photo of the theme on my 3DS XL, sorry for the glare, I have a window behind me.

I decided to make a Sonic CD theme and it ended up spawning 2 different ones. Oh well.

SCD US-inspired theme

SCD JP/EU-inspired theme

PS: Even though they say JP/EU and US, they are not region-locked, but simply based on the fact that Sonic CD has 2 different soundtracks for their US and JP/EU versions.
Both themes are basically completely different with the exception of the bottom screen background.

Keep in mind that I have not tested the theme myself, only got my friend to do it for me but everything should be working fine.
I've tried my best on making a theme without having either a Gateway or Ninjhax so please tell me what you think :D

I asked in the Noob Paradise but got no answer so I hope it's okay if I ask my question here again, I'm really just curious about this, nothing more:

I just have a quick question regarding custom themes: I know I locked myself out of homebrew and I did so knowingly because GameStop here did a trade-in promo Friday and Saturday and due to the limited timeframe, GameStop checking my old 3DS before I traded it in and me having to do a system transfer in-store to keep my digital games I had not much choice, a price of 50€ was too good to pass up. Both systems had to run 9.5 afterall though I heard I could have had a custom theme on my new 3DS with a bit preparation, is there any truth to this?

I don't remember where exactly but I read that, if you had a customized theme cache on 9.2 and then updated to 9.5 the custom theme would have persisted, then if you do a system transfer to a new 3DS the custom theme would have just copied over. Would that really have been possible? I mean I wouldn't doubt that the new 3DS wouldn't have checked the theme cache integrity and I know it's too late for me anyway but I ask purely for my peace of mind. Thanks in advance for answers! :)
