After quite a bit of fiddling (maybe like a month or two now...) I managed to get images displayed on my SNES classic (works with NES too)

To avoid anyone else getting into some long and tiring google searches, here is a quick tutorial!
(Make sure your image is 1280x720)
  1. Download Imagemagick
  2. I recommend that your image is .png for better quality
  3. During the Imagemagick installation, when given an option of things to install, make sure to tick the box that mentions "convert"
  4. Once installed, open command prompt and goto the directory that contains your image
  5. Type in (without quotes) "convert image.png image.rgba
  6. Change the file extension to .raw (you may need to unhide file extensions to do this, or do it with "ren image.rgba image.raw")
  7. Download gzip
  8. Using the same command prompt window, type "gzip image.raw"
  9. You can now use this image with the S/NES classic following the information in the password.hmod script.

Goto the bottom of this page for information of displaying the image.
