So the newest firmware forgot to include the patches. You have two options... patch the roms, or wait for the next firmware and cross your fingers they include the patches.

The proper way to fix these games is to mirror the ROM across the entire 32 MB addressable area of the GBA. EZ-Flash can easily add a mirror mode via FPGA (firmware) update. Alternatively fill the entire PSRAM with mirrors of the game.

There are 2 types of ROMs used in retail games. The ones that will return no data on out of bounds reads (almost all) or the 8 mbit Classic NES games which mirror the ROM because one data line is likely unconnected.

That's good info and could be considered the best way to fix it, but from my perspective as a user I don't mind whether it's done like that or by automatic patching, as long as it allows the use of unmodified ROM files on the SD card.

@EZ-Flash2 Can you please answer us? It's been two months now and it would be nice to have some clue about the status of this.

The ap code does not include in the current kernel.

If you are very eager to play these games now, you can choose to manually ap-patch these ROMs or use @Sterophonick 's custom kernel at here.
