The chinese build from 13/06 should work, I've used it in this video . And yes, it's still crashing when you try to go out of the Petalburg Woods.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the one I'm using but again, the intro won't play at all and I can't seem to get anything to show on the second screen. Heck I haven't even made it past the "welcome to the world of Pokémon bla bla bla" speech. Music is working, and I can skip the intro, but the point is that I want to actually something on the damn screen. Any chance this a gfx driver issue?

Dont want to be a douche but either wait for future build or just buy a real 3DS if you really wanna play pokemon 3DS. Devs said many times Pokemon games are not supported (yet) so please just stop asking.

But that's what I'm saying, I know the emulator can't play the Pokémon games perfectly, just that they CAN work better than what I'm getting. I'm not going to actually be playing it through, I just want to try it out. I've been following this thread for a while, I know Pokémon aren't supported in the official nightly builds, so I'm not using those.

Make sure you have a nand dump from a real 3DS in your user folder.
Check this site to see what the folder layout should look like.

Any chance of a PM to send me down the right path of getting the rom or even the patch to apply myself?.
I've tested the normal version of the rom and it seems this 721 build is the only one that can pass petalburg woods.
no,you must take the pokemon which you choose at the beginning.it's a bug.

what do you mean ?it does not allow you to pick again anyway .......i'm confused
for example, you get a Torchic from the professor, then you must ensure this pokemon is in your team before you enter the petalburg woods.do you choose a female character?you can use pkhex to check the real sex.

Okay, so downloaded this 721 version and it says roms need to be decrypted. There was also a (.cia) file available along with the rom. Does that have anything to do with the rom decryption? :s

What is the size of the .cia file ? Is the same of the .3DS file ?

I don't need to upload it haha, you can get it here: http://www.maxconsole.com/maxcon_fo...cc70c2d7e72e9&attachmentid=40162&d=1448735428
Also, you need Python 2.7 installed to use it https://www.python.org/download/releases/2.7/

This is what you must do:
1. Extract the files
2. Copy the .cia file to the same folder of the "3DS To CIA Converter.bat" file
3. Run the "3DS To CIA Converter.bat"
4. Press 3, and then enter (to select the converter options)
5. Press 6, and then enter (to select CIA to 3DS converter)
6. Type in (or paste) the EXACT name of the file .cia (exemple: PAWKÉMAUN_EX_PLUS_ADVANCED_NOTSOCOOL.cia, don't forget to type the .cia at the end), and then enter
7. Wait... really, this could take some minutes...
8. You will get some kind of error message at the end (always, just ignore)
9. Done, the new .3DS file will be in the same folder the original .cia was
10. Test ;)

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
