@NutNut
Thanks for d2x installer 2.2.
Is it possible to add a summary screen with "Press A to confirm" before starting cios installation?

It appears this ciox is almost (if not) prefect. I was wondering why is there still the "base ios" situation. Wich one is the best one for universal usb backup solution.

Also while I'm at it is this compatible with sneek ??

Pip'
The best bases are 56 and 57.
56 for most games and 57 for some new games (COD:BO)

This is the official d2x cIOS Installer created by <b>Dragbe</b> and was made with the full support of the d2x team.
This homebrew runs on the Wii and is an alternative to the ModMii method to install the d2x cIOSs.
It's especially helpful for people without Windows and are therefore unable to run ModMii.
It can also install beta versions of d2x cIOS soon after there release by simply adding modules & ciosmaps.xml next to the boot.dol !

<ul><li><u>To Do List:</u>
- Add a confirmation screen before starting the installation.

- Write a d2x cIOS installer documentation.

</li><li><u>Known Issues:</u>
- It's impossible to downgrade revision of IOS/cIOS already installed if you use a cIOS without ES_Version patch <i>(i.e: like cIOS Hermes)</i> for the installation process.
- If you haven't set the <arg>--ios=XXX</arg> argument in meta.xml and you are using USB device, as soon as you will do a IOS Reload on the "Working IOS menu", the cIOS Installer will ignore the USB device !
</li></ul>
<b><u><!--sizeo:3--><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->How to add a new cIOS in the Installer :<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--></u></b>
Since d2x cIOS Installer v2.0, it is possible to add cIOS without having to compile sources !
This new functionality can be very useful for installing beta versions of cIOS or even create "hybrid" cIOS such as the cIOS d2x vX but with the EHCI and ES module vY <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

To do this, you do not really need any programming skills apart from reading a .xml file and rename things. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
So, to add a cIOS to the list, in addition to those already present, you have to grab the modules <i>(file format .app)</i> of the cIOS you want to build <i>(look at ModMii's sources)</i>, place them in the right place on the SD/USB device and edit CIOSMAPS.xml file.

In binaries, you will see a file named sampleCIOSMAPS.xml which is actually the "map" of the cIOS v6 d2x <i>(a kind of installation guide for d2x cIOS Installer)</i>.
Once opened with an XML editor, it's scary but there are only a few lines we are interested in:
- <!--coloro:#4169E1--><span style="color:#4169E1"><!--/coloro--><ciosgroup name="d2x v6" version="21006" basescount="7"><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> Here the tag <i>name</i> indicates the name that appears on the d2x cIOS Installer and <i>version</i> the final revision of cIOS (max = 65535). You can edit these two tags as you wish.
- Then enter the spoiler of the IOS Base you want to install, for example IOS Base 37, I open the spoiler <!--coloro:#4169E1--><span style="color:#4169E1"><!--/coloro--><ios base="37" version="5662" contentscount="22" modulescount="7"><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
- Inside, the only lines that interest us are those that contain the tags <i>module</i> example: <!--coloro:#4169E1--><span style="color:#4169E1"><!--/coloro--><content id="0x26" module="EHCI21006" tmdmoduleid="3"/><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->. If I want to change the EHCI module, I can simply change its name.
<b>If you put multiples new cIOS, dont forget to change the line <!--coloro:#4169E1--><span style="color:#4169E1"><!--/coloro--><ciosmaps ciosgroupscount="1"><!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> on the top !</b>
- Once the changes are done, save and rename the file sampleCIOSMAPS.xml in CIOSMAPS.xml

- So now, let us see what to do with modules <i>(.app files)</i>. The directory tree to use for storing modules mainly depends on the attribute <i>name</i> of the tag <i>ciosgroup</i> involved in the CIOSMAPS.xml. As an example, for a cIOS whith :
<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1--><ciosgroup name = "d2x vX beta1" ...<!--c2--></div><!--ec2--><div align='center'>I have to put its modules <i>(.app files)</i> in the directory :</div><!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1--><directory of d2x cIOS installer> \ d2x \ vX \ beta1 \<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
<div align='center'><img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/excl.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":!:" border="0" alt="excl.gif" /> Putting a space in the attribute <i>name</i> necessarily gives rise to a new directory <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/excl.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":!:" border="0" alt="excl.gif" />
If name="d2xvXbeta1" then the directory will be <directory of d2x cIOS installer>\ d2xvXbeta1 \ </div>
- Verify that the modules' names match with those that you put in the CIOSMAPS.xml
- It's over, the d2x cIOS Installer should see your new cIOS and if the modules are misplaced, he will tell you <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

For the simple fact that the Wii isn't designed with the "one universal IOS" in mind in the first place. We need multiple cIOSes for the same reason you have multiple official IOSes, you just don't need nearly as many.

Hi NutNut,

I have added the ES_Version Patch to the AHBPROT patches.
Now you can downgrade cIOS with AHBPROT.

It appears this ciox is almost (if not) prefect. I was wondering why is there still the "base ios" situation. Wich one is the best one for universal usb backup solution.

Also while I'm at it is this compatible with sneek ??

Pip'

For the simple fact that the Wii isn't designed with the "one universal IOS" in mind in the first place. We need multiple cIOSes for the same reason you have multiple official IOSes, you just don't need nearly as many.
Thank you, I understand what you mean.

I would not recommend it, i tested the alpha1 for davebaol and it is still containing to much bus TMHO, as does alpha2..
