the great thing about uLoader 4.5b is that you can save your Wii game-saves on an sdcard.

This exactly what im hoping for in Cfg USB Loader. Hint Hint oggzee and co lol
Well...
  • Then you should post in the right topic, where the devs can read it...
  • ...but better scratch that. Oggzee stated several times already that he won't do it.
@Topic: I tried uLoader yesterday and man...I got sick
wacko.gif
. What's up with the Images and the Background? They're ugly, and that blinking and flashing makes me want to throw up. The Layout is horrible too...

If it's realy that stable like some people say, it's a pitty that it's so ugly...
Man u need to learn that real beauty is inside
lecture.gif
, besides u spend less than 2 minutes before u launch the game. Also i don think any other loader USBloader can write the time u play in the Wii diary with the name of the game. So shut the F*** up and learn to apreciate the best loader so far which now can emulate the nand with just a folder no a whole dump of it, so it can be call a custom firmware
yay.gif
and soon can launch VC Games with the nand emulation.

Just to try to restrict any misinformation, Cfg also has that feature, and it even goes further by modifying the game timer to when you start the game. Marc's original code, which Hermes is using, leaves the start time as the time you started the loader, so the play times of the games will be slightly inflated.

The ability of uLoader to use saves on an emulated NAND on SD or USB is pretty awesome. By having a combination of uLoader, SNEEK, and Triiforce, you can have complete freedom from using your NAND. Although I agree that uLoader has an hideous GUI, I will tolerate it for now.

Hopefully this feature of Hermes cIOS can be incorporated into one of the other USB loaders (Config or Wiiflow, I hope). Alternatively, it would be nice if a mod of uLoader can be developed that replaces the ugly user interface with a better one.

Well for now uLoader seems to be the most innovative and forward looking of the loaders. It maybe ugly but that's a minor issue and the source is there for anyone.

GX is a little innovative with NTFS and CFG is a solid well rounded choice.

I myself liked GX, then switched to CFG when they started using FAT, tried GX again for NTFS, went back to CFG, but am now thinking of switching to uLoader (main reason is saves on emu nand, and if Hermes gets WW+VC working that's even more of a bonus).

I really hope to see one of the loaders integrate all of the working features, or maybe some new innovative features.

2010 has been so good to us Wii abusers

You call simply copying code innovative? Or do you mean the NTFS write support? Well, we see how stable it is
tongue.gif

Write obviously, and yes it does need to be more stable but I'm sure they'll get the bugs fixed with time.

I wonder who will add the new Hermes features (nand saves, and VC+WW from emu) first, GX or CFG ? hmm...

I bet it's GX...they always integrate new features, even if they are still unstable (though, I don't like that...). Probably forget about CFG. Oggzee stated several times that he won't do it. Question is now if it's only him that won't do it (then maybe ganon, Dr. Clipper or uspectial will do it), or if it's a general "No", which I think it is.

The best thing to do would be to modify the uLoader Source and add a shiny GUI, since I've heard it's very stable in the core...

I'm still holding out some hope for cfg to support the new cIOS and features.

I wouldn't mind trying out uLoader again even tho it has a crappy GUI(supposedly), but since it doesnt support .wbfs files i can't.
I dont fancy converting all 400+ games into ciso.

Im fed up with having to delete gamesaves from my nand because it keeps filling up, so the gamesaves to emu nand is something i really really want.

I posted about this idea well over a year ago, I thought the situation would only get worse. HERE

Until Hermes added it, it was only possible thanks to Waninkoko (nand emu) and Nicksasa modding Wiipowers neogamma, but it had so many bugs.

imho The future will see more apps integrated into loaders and a general feeling of n00b proof plug and play. So you will more or less have one app you launch everything from and where possible nothing is written to nand. Download 1 thing, do just about everything with it.

Again I gotta say wow to Hermes, I hope other devs step onto his broad shoulders and improve uLoaders gui, or other loaders integrate these new features.

The latter is more likely, he seems to like to work alone, I can't remeber if he was the same on the GC, but hey, that's his choice to make.

QUOTE(Dispel @ Feb 13 2010, 09:36 PM) what are the advantages of using emu NAND over actual NAND ?
More space
And you can't do anything wrong with the real one
wink.gif

Plus in most cases it makes a lot of things portable too EG: You can unplug your HDD and take it to a friends and not need to move saves, or reinstall wiiware etc. Nand emu can also allow things like using the same miis on another wii, settings and themes.

This is really handy for not only taking to another wii but also for backing up purposes and editing and as tj said you can't do anything wrong really.

Hermes allows for a couple of nand backups too so you can experiment to your hearts content fairly safely.

Sorry, I can't find 4.7, anyone got a link? I've got to add support for this to a wad manager.

Edit:

You can use the update feature to get 4.7

English Translation Of Hermes Post

Some features...

Emulated saves from SD/USB
Wiiware and VC from SD/USB (installer included) Put wads in / nand / install (wads are auto deleted after install)

Some strange things though, like in Bubble Bobble you can go online, but not use the DLC. The opposite is true with triiforce, so some buga will be ironed out by Hermes soon.

I think Hermes has removed 4.7 just now to fix some bugs ?

"tomorrow the full release"

Sorry if any of this is a bit wrong, I used google translator.

Thanks. I'll have to wait for the full release. He took down the update due to some bugs

@Slimmm - do you have this version of uloader, and if so, have you tested the VC/wiiware emulation? Sadly I am away on business and I won't get back to my wii until Thursday. If so, how is the compatibility? Will games that don't work on Triiforce (like Monkey Island, etc) play on uloader?

If there is near 100% compatibility for emulated VC/Wiiware games on uloader, it's looking like uloader is the ultimate solution for playing games on the wii.

From the readme in the new installer download.

It have a new FAT / FFS module that emulates the saves of the console (see Configuration -> Edit CFG#2, select a connected device
and folder (it support "nand", "nand2", "nand3" and "nand4"). You can export from the NAND the saves (if you have) one or launch directly
and teh game creates one. If the folder countain datas, you can see it in Green and Red without any datas. SD is protect for Game access
if you are using it (remember you need a SD with 32KB per cluster to work in optimus conditions)

Does this mean some sort of nand emu is supported for save games?? If so is it in the cIOS or is it in uLoader?

Hope its in the cIOS, maybe CFG and GX can make use of it then!!!

You might be able to help me. I read this from you and is this all i would need to use to emulate the saves to either usb or sd card so i can free up the blocks? i dont understand it. could you help or point in right direction?
