I would like to remove auto rcm after upgrading to 6.0.1 (choixdujour)

Have i to get back to my previous/original firmware version (official 5.1) ?
Also, i had a joycon update. Is it an issue if i get back to 5.1.

------------
Bonus question :
I'm not sure i understand this FAQ :

Q: I've never run firmware 4.0.0 or higher on my switch, so my gamecard controller firmware is still not updated. How do i make sure my gamecard controller works after i downgrade back to < 4.0.0 ?
A: When flashing the firmware image for any 4.0.0 or later firmware, ChoiDujourNX will generate a protective hekate_ipl.ini on your microsd, with a "PreventGCUpdate" launch target. You must ALWAYS boot using this launch target (or add kip1patch=nogc to any launch target you wish to use in the future) and use a Hekate that supports the kip1patch option (releases here do: https://github.com/rajkosto/hekate/releases) if you want to prevent use and updating of your GC controller firmware on firmware versions 4.0.0 and up.

It seems like I fucked up few thing with ReiNX, hekate and "PreventGCUpdate".
- I ran SXOS after Choixdujour update
- ReiNX/atmo didn't work
- I can't find "PreventGCUpdate" on the card while i remember having seen it once in Caeter menu (did not boot anyway :D)
Can you confirm that it is not a issue for me (because i can't downgrade below 5.1) ?
- if you ever boot a higher firmware without rcm (either manual rcm with a jig or autorcm) and burn fuses it'll be pointless to downgrade
- updated joycon will work on any firmware
- if you've ever booted 4.0.0 or higher with an active gamecard slot then your gamecard slot is already updated and the point is moot

I have an issue: ChoidujourNX is showing all files on my SD including some folders except for the "firmware" folder where I have the FW update stored. Even if I move the FW update somewhere else it is still shown as a blank file that cannot be selected. Any clues what I can do about this? Thanks a billion.

is the firmware unzipped, like it's just a couple hundred nca files? sounds like maybe you left it in a zip.

It is unzipped. I've used the tool before and it worked flawlessly but now I just see a blank file instead of a regular folder for /firmware :-( No clue what to do...

Edit: fyi, I just installed SX OS emunand. Not sure if this impacted it. I'm also a Mac user. The SD was formatted ExFAT and I have the ExFAT update installed.

Got something super strange happening, hopefully easy fix, but I'm completely lost. Recently bought a 256GB SD to replace my 64GB one. I had upgraded to 3.0.1 exFAT (from 3.0.0) using ChoiDujourNX on it before, and verified it worked on that with exFAT and everything. Cloned the 64GB to the 256SD, both exFAT, plugged in the new one, and I cannot upgrade/downgrade anything with ChoiDujourNX, says (missing X out of Y required NCAs...). This, however, doesn't happen for the 64GB card, which is an exact copy of the 256GB one (just swapped them and downgraded from 3.0.1 to 3.0.0 with it no problem). What could be going on? I really don't want to have to swap SD cards just to change FW versions, that's super silly...

I've tried reformatting the 256GB card 3 times, clearing archive bit, just about everything I can think of...

Got the same issue. Using a fat32 sd card worked for me :)

The 256 GB SD card could be fake. Use FakeFlashTest to verify if its real or not.

Hey guys, after using ChoidujourNX to update my system firmware from 5.1.0 to 6.0.0 I keep getting asked to do a controller update. Is it safe to do the update? Can I restore my firmware back to 5.1.0 and still use my joy cons then? Are there any disadvantages/advantages of doing the update?

Thanks in advance!

I updated my emunand to that latest version using choidujournx. I now have a controller update nag - is this safe to do?

Unless your Joy-Con is modded (meaning pins 9 & 10 are bridged together), then you can update the Joy-Cons. Although I still haven't updated mine and they work fine on 6.0.1 aside from the annoying nag. I've also been able to use my Joy-Cons on lower firmware when I used ChoiDujourNX to downgrade my firmware for testing purposes.

So the joycons stop working on lower firmwares if I update on higher firmwares? :o

Both are Samsung EVOs, so I doubt it's fake, but I'll double check and run that test when I get home. Any suggestions if the test comes back real?
Try formatting the 256 GB SD card to FAT32 using guiformat.

FakeFlashTest came back with nothing wrong, reformatted as FAT32, same issues, missing NCAs. Added images of what's happening, one from new SD, one from old. The files on each are 100% identical.

If you are unzipping the firmware files from where ever you downloaded them from before putting it on the SD card, I would try putting the raw .zip or whatever compressed file format onto the 256 GB SD card first then unpack it on the SD card to reduce any problems during a file transfer.

Same result, a couple firmwares work for upgrade/downgrade, but most are missing 1-9 NCAs. Same firmwares on the 64GB card have no issue. Tried transferring zips and extracting on card and plugging both cards in and directly transfering between them. Worse case, I just have this 64GB card for firmware changes, don't need to do that too often, but still super strange, and would like to have 1 card for everything...

zip software usually unzips everything to system temp before moving to final location so that shouldn’t make a difference

hekate archive bit fix might be in order unless you already did the manual mac permissions fix

strange

I got the same card, same capacity, same manufacturer. works perfectly for me.

I used it to upgrade from 5.1.0 to 6.0.1 using choidujour

did you test it on h2testw too?

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though

@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway

    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea

even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
