I believe so, I think you have to hold X to do it and can be done without holding X in a later release of AKAIO.

You must make sure you used the same region of both pokemon games. My Pokemon BR Wii game is PAL and SoulSilver is NTSC and it does not work but I found out that my Platium which is a PAL version work perfectly.
