I'm sure you guys all know that the R4 bypasses the NDS firmware and boots to their menu regardless on what setting is on the firmware, whether to immediately start what's on the Slot-1 cart or not. Question is, is there any method to boot the NDS firmware first, then access the R4 later through there?

Also, can the NDS detect Slot-1 and Slot-2 cartridge insertions on the fly in the firmware menu? Will it possibly damage the console in any way?

only some flashcarts can be chosen from the ds menu like the ez-flash 4 and acekard 2

and no it's won't damage the ds or will it?

The r4 is not detectable in the nds menu. If you have a gba gme flashed to the nor then the ez flash can be seen in the nds menu. As far as i know i dont think there is a way to launch the regular nds menu before the r4 menu. You can launch the nds menu after going to the r4 menu though. But your essentially stuck there since the menu wont detect the r4.

I'm not certain. That's why I'm asking around if someone has accidentally/purposely done it.

but you cant boot back though. you'll turn off your ds anyway.
True, but at least by using Yasu's Back-to-Firmware, you don't have to unecessarily remove the R4 cart from the console when wanting to access D/Play or Pictochat....big bonus!

@SylverReZ, I dislike the kind of drm where you have to play single player games online all the time bc of some verification bs

@Xdqwerty, Don't use games that have Easy Anti-Cheat as its been exploited many times.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, I have a rom of the ds version of impossible mission
