Okay, Nero continues to stop working after about a week and I have to keep reinstalling it and I'm getting tired of doing that. It's worked fine for years and now it decides it hates me.

I just need a simple program that lets me burn files onto a CD or DVD and then name the disc. Any ideas?

Funny you say that cause just recently my nero's been acting weird too.

My problems a bit different from yours though cause I can use nero for everything but burning to dual layered dvds

It fails everytime no matter what speed i burn at, which is a pain in the arse.

I'd have to say that alcohol 120% would be my next pick, maybe you should give that a try.

lagman: Windows has a built in burn program?

Burt0: I have Alcohol 120% as well but I thought it only let you burn image files and not put individual files on a disc.

Sure it does, and it´s actually pretty good and simple.
Just drag´n´drop the files to your unit (D)

Imgburn for iso burning and basic disc making (folder2iso is nice sometimes as well).

DVD decrypter and ripit4me for DVD ripping.

DVD shrink or maybe DVD rebuilder as a old style nero recode replacement (if you need one for MP4 I suggest spending 20 minutes learning video and using megui).

Daemon tools as the virtual drive (careful not to select install adware).

DVDs I can make myself but DVDflick does the job of DVD making.

Audacity probably serves as a decent audio editor (this is about the only thing nero has sown up in my opinion):

Oh and if you for some reason like nero showtime the usual CCCP suggestion stands with real/quicktime alternative should you need it:
http://www.cccp-project.net/

That is just about everything (and probably more) that nero does and it is all free, the GUIs may not be as pleasing to look at but I dare say the apps behind it are better. Save megui they are all .net free as well.
