Activision plan to release more remasters in 2018

In an annual investor's report put out by Activision, the company has announced that after the success of remastered games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and the Crash N. Sane Trilogy, they plan on releasing more remasters throughout the current year. This information reignites the rampant rumors that have been going around the past few months regarding a Modern Warfare 2 remaster and a Spyro trilogy remake. It also follows the recent Tweet from Tony Hawk, regarding him talking about his split from Activision, and his wish for remasters of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series. The report doesn't detail what Activision has in mind specifically, only noting that they plan to remaster some of their intellectual properties.

We expect to release World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and our latest Call of Duty game in the second half of 2018. In addition, we expect to deliver ongoing content for our various franchises, including expansion packs for Hearthstone and Destiny 2 , in-game events for Overwatch , and map packs for Call of Duty: WWII , as well as releases of remastered versions of titles from our library of IP. We also expect to release at least two new mobile titles during 2018, including a social casino game from King.

Hooray, more rematers, can't wait!

Tho if those will be really remade games, like crash, and not just upscaled resolution, then it's okay

Wasnt exactly stating that, but was trying to make a point that a market for this stuff exists, and that remasters like spyro or crash are not only targeted to the nostalgia grow up people, but also for the new generation kids or even people that never had the chance to play them when they originaly launched. Saying that, THAT'S exactly the target audience for the wii u ports, for people that never had the chance to own a wii u and that now own a switch, so, what is the bad point about remasters or ports from old systems? Sure, developers could be making newer games and more original content, but if the market exists, why no take advantage of it? Just imagine the amount of times sonic 1 and 2 and other genesis sonic games have been re-released over the years, and yet people keep buying them.

Also, stuff here isnt inaccesible. Chile can be anything but a third world country. The thing is, that certain stuff such a gaming pc, or at least between decent-high end ones can get pretty expensive. Though other stuff such as gaming consoles, tvs and cell phones are more than affordable.

It's a shame that there's a market for the reasons mentioned by you. Why buy a remaster, if you could run the original on a windows tablet or mini PC that would cost you less than 100 bucks? When it comes to costs, there's enough other ways than shelling out 300 bucks for a console and another 40 or even 50 for the remaster. Depending on the platform and game you could do much better if you bought the original console used and either bought the original game or hacked the console. It's a bit contrary that you can't afford a PS3 for the original, but then a PS4 (that is just as costly as the PS3 was back then) and a remaster are just fine instead of getting an old PS3 or an emulator machine?

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind remasters if they were not such a cash grab with hardly any work involved. But as long as there's reasonable ways to avoid buying them, I personally would not support them.

apart from Tony Hawk is not talking about remasters, he is making it clear that he has no involvement with Activision nor any control over its servers or if other reboots are made.

i think the spyro trilogy would be a good remake, but nothing mentioned in the link.

but also, remakes, i guess someone needs to support the nintendo switch LOLz.

At that time i couldnt afford a ps3 or a 360, so i went with a wii. Then now that i had the money to get a current gen console, why would i waste part of the money on an past gen one? Dont get me wrong either, i like playing old school games with their pixelated and low resolutions just like it was the 90' or early 2000, but if people who never touched them, like me, have the chance to play the better version with today's standards, why is that a bad thing?

Here's my thing if you had a PS4/360/PS4/Xbox one back then & got or had these games, Good for you, But..

I'd glad to see the modern warfare trilogy & Black ops trilogy ported to switch. As well as cod ww2, Perhaps some destiny.

Alot of Wii & WiiU & switch users or people that stuck stuck nintendo only consoles since n64, need true versions of these games.
Cod3, MW1, MW3, BlackOps1 was on original Wii, wmaning low graphics & output 480p max, & no DLC.
BlackOps2, & Ghost on WiiU were true versions, but each only got 1 DLC map.
Nintendo users also never got to play MW2, & BlackOps3, WW2 & few other CoD games. As well as Destiny1&2.

I can't think of any other Activision games.

I think it kinda selfish to just go. You don't like a game specifically yourself Or you played a game specifically yourself on another console in the past therefore it shouldn't come to switch.
If that's the case then we shouldn't have gotten doom, la nior, db xenoverse2, outlast, hello neighbor, Payday2, & mariokart8d, pokkenDX, and so far these games are selling great .

I switched to sony because of that, and for more third party titles that never released or releases on nintendo platforms. But, the funny thing is, i highly enjoyed the cod games on my wii back in the day, and always wanted the full experience with all the game modes and dlc, but sadly it never happened, since the wii lacked of internal memory and the wii i being a failure... I highly wich cod could come back to the switch, it would really makes me want to get a switch, but saldy for now it looks unlikely, unless activision proves me wrong...

Also, do not touch destiny 2 nor cod advanced/infinity warfare, they are garbage :P

just made some edits to my original post.

but i was one of these. i enjoyed the CoD games on Wii, & Wiiu. i even gave the DS versions a try.
Spent so many hours playing the wii versions of MW3, MW1, & BlackOps1 online multiplayer & zombies both pro controller & wiimote, did the same for on wiiu.
highlights being BlackOps1/Wii & BlackOps2/WiiU tho.

i believe with the original Wii version of MW1/MW3/W@W/BlackOps1 being so small compared to ps3/360 versions.
if the dlc ever came for original wii version of cod games. they would be nowhere as big as those versions.
i don't think it was internal memory twas the problem, you could put SD Cards in Wii & store stuff on there, i used 32GB card in mines.
i think the problem was the original wii shop channel had a size limit on dlc that can be put on the shop.
& sure the original wii dlc would have been far smaller than ps3/360 versions, would have probably still been to big to go on there.

as for WiiU its obvious they could have put dlc on WiiU eshop. idk what they were thinking, maybe looking at consol sales, or maybe there was s size limit still.

but now on Switch we have games & dlc that's over 5gb so there's a chance when we get CoD games on Switch we will get DLC this time. i think there just waiting for the paid version & voice chat to come to release them.
