Activision plan to release more remasters in 2018

In an annual investor's report put out by Activision, the company has announced that after the success of remastered games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and the Crash N. Sane Trilogy, they plan on releasing more remasters throughout the current year. This information reignites the rampant rumors that have been going around the past few months regarding a Modern Warfare 2 remaster and a Spyro trilogy remake. It also follows the recent Tweet from Tony Hawk, regarding him talking about his split from Activision, and his wish for remasters of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series. The report doesn't detail what Activision has in mind specifically, only noting that they plan to remaster some of their intellectual properties.

We expect to release World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and our latest Call of Duty game in the second half of 2018. In addition, we expect to deliver ongoing content for our various franchises, including expansion packs for Hearthstone and Destiny 2 , in-game events for Overwatch , and map packs for Call of Duty: WWII , as well as releases of remastered versions of titles from our library of IP. We also expect to release at least two new mobile titles during 2018, including a social casino game from King.

I don't even think Activision still has the rights to make any THPS games - I heard the reason THPS5 was rushed and buggy was because they wanted to get one last game out by the end date of their contract.

I've heard rumors of a Spyro remaster for PS4, along with Crash ports to other consoles including Switch.

learn to make good games 1st before you think of remastered games.

i just dont like Activision games. nothing against them, i just dont like they games.
Why would they bother to learn how to make good games when every mediocre recycled warfare nets them billions of dollars every year?

Also, Crash Bandicoot and MW remasters have nettted them millions of dollars in revenue, why would they bother doing new things when rehashed shit is so profitable?.

At this point crap games and remasters are all the rage when it comes to profit for them...It only makes sense for them to keep pumping more and more...

MW2 Remaster i'd pass. Spyro Trilogy remaster however i'd definitely get. It would even show those that first heard of Spyro through Skylanders what Spyro was before Skylanders.

More people own a switch than people who owned the Wii U set this point, and the switch sales aren't stopping any time soon... Makes sense for Nintendo to re-release the Wii U gems like Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros or Bayoneta 2, for people who didn't own a Wii U (or simply didn't buy them) the first time around.

Re-releasing something like Call of Duty Modern Warfare, that was available on every platform in the other hand... Not the same thing...

Well, you see, that applies to YOU... Not North America, Europe or Japan which are the primary targets of these gaming companies.

If YOU can't afford something bevause you live in a 3rd world undeveloped country, doesn't mean the rest of the world is in the same situation as you.

Buying videogames in countries from South America such as Venezuela, Central Americans (such as Honduras or El Salvador) or African countries such as Nigeria is EXPENSIVE as fuck, that doesn't mean the same thing applies for NA, EU or ASIA.

Wasnt exactly stating that, but was trying to make a point that a market for this stuff exists, and that remasters like spyro or crash are not only targeted to the nostalgia grow up people, but also for the new generation kids or even people that never had the chance to play them when they originaly launched. Saying that, THAT'S exactly the target audience for the wii u ports, for people that never had the chance to own a wii u and that now own a switch, so, what is the bad point about remasters or ports from old systems? Sure, developers could be making newer games and more original content, but if the market exists, why no take advantage of it? Just imagine the amount of times sonic 1 and 2 and other genesis sonic games have been re-released over the years, and yet people keep buying them.

Also, stuff here isnt inaccesible. The thing is, that certain stuff such a gaming pc, or at least between decent-high end ones can get pretty expensive. Though other stuff such as gaming consoles, tvs and cell phones are more than affordable.
