Bandai Namco's anime-style action-RPG game Scarlet Nexus will be getting a demo on consoles. Xbox owners will be able to get their hands on it first, with the demo going live on May 21st, while PlayStation players get to try it out a week later, on the 28th. PC, however, is left out, with Bandai Namco not mentioning the platform at all in regards to a trial. The game has some pedigree to its name, headlining the talents of producer Keita Iizuka and director Kenji Anabuki, known for their previous work at Bandai Namco on Code Vein, Tales of Vesperia, and Tales of Symphonia. Scarlet Nexus launches on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 on June 25th, worldwide.

Been very impressed by what I've seen of this so far, heavy Nier + Astral Chain vibes. Good thing gameplay looks ace too, because the story seems kinda rubbish (as is often the case with anime games).

I don't know how this has happened more than once, you'd think developers would've learned to simply not include the full game's assets in a demo.

Also this game appears to only have Steamworks for DRM, so it's gonna be cracked day one anyway.

Not really, for the last six years or so they've been pretty rare, only very recently are some developers/publishers realizing the value in demos again.

Demos and shareware have always been avaliable online, the only real difference is that Internet speeds are nowadays much faster and that a lot more people uses the Internet, that's it.

Edit: Heck you could get demos and shareware in BBS forums and IRC and that does predate webpages.
