Ok so if I already updated to 1.4 I have to wait for a new udate or find someone with a dsi at 1.3. Otherwise I am currently out of luck right?
That or find someone with a DS Lite that you can use for the purpose of booting up your card for the first time with the update patch on the card. Once you do that, the card will work in your DSi.

So, if you got a buddy with a DSLite, or a pre 1.4 DSi, use their game to boot up your card in for the first time, with the update patch on the card. Once it boots up, it will work.

Is that still the case?

Because I don't know anyone with a DSPhat/Lite or a DSi.....So I'm screwed? Is it possible for the AceKard team to unbrick cards or roll back the DSi update?

Sorry, should have I posted it somewhere else?
If so, please move my post to where it should be so I can get an answer, thanks a lot.

I'm thinking the answer is "just wait" though

unless someone come out with some sort of hack like the one we have seen for wii

I COULD.
But I really don't want to. I mean £25 for a student is a lot...That's a few days of meals right there

And can you for certain say it won't happen?
The official site states they are working on a 1.4 fix so I think I'll wait on their official word. Will be a bit sad to go on without a DSi for a while but oh well, I rather wait than pay.

Why didn't they update their site to say it's out. :/
I thought that fix was talking about bringing "bricked" AceKards to work with DSi?? dayum.
I shall send them an e-mail to see if they ARE working on it anway.

And if not ~£8 sounds like a great deal, thanks for that one mate!
But I'll leave that as my last resort

this is the one that we are actually talking about

why not on their site? legal issues? LOL

They just need to bring an update like how when DSi first shipped all our cards were 'bricked' (didn't work), they just need to make a new update that makes AceKArd2 work straight with FW1.4. And then I can use that update to use my card again.

I'll send them an e-mail to see what they are planning etc. Surely they won't leave us people who accidentally updated DSi FW before the card and bricked their cards in the cold? :'( lol
Albeit we deserve it for our moment of stupidity, but as developers they should patch it up.

PS: If they reply I will add what they said here! If they haven't replied in a week, I'll add here to say that they didn't reply.

NO REPLIES YET!!!! (22 Sept)

AFAIK you can only use one card to update another using a ds/dslite, so you don't need one that works with 1.4.

There is a difference between being bricked and not working with 1.4, if yours just doesn't work with 1.4 then you can use a ds/dslite to update it anyway.

Sorry, mine is not bricked then. It just doesn't work with 1.4 as I updated DSi before the card (D'oh!)!

Unfortunately, as I said, I don't know anyone with a DS/DSLite so I'm hoping AceKard guys will bring something out to make my card work directly with 1.4.

They probably won't, seeing as how they got something that works with pre-1.4, and then the update to 1.4....which you need to run on a not-updated DSi...or on a DSLite. Most folks ought to be able to get their cards updated that way, and so they likely won't bother.

You need to borrow a DSLite from a friend, or go on eBbay and try to get one. You oughta have one, anyway, just for this sort of thing.

Me, I just switched back to the DSLite for good. I don't think the few "advancements" of the DSi are worth the hassle of Nintendo being able to screw with your system just about any time they choose to.

So I uodated an Acekard that works in the DSi and gave it all to my mom. Her Acekard happens to have a copy of the Holy Bible on it, LOL.

Hmm, that's annoying and you are probably right.
I did send them an e-mail to see if they have anything in the pipelines though, just in case.

I might do that trick mentioned above where I go to the shop to "try" DS/DSLite and 'secretly' update it there
tongue.gif

Although if by bad luck it happens to be a day with a douche-bag at the counter, I may get into a lot of trouble.

And to make 100% sure, if I'm updating for the DSi on a DSLite/DS system, I put the DSi update file in the root? Or the DSLite one?

Use the DSi file. You'll want the _aio folder, the akmenu.nds file and the dsi update file on the card. Total of two files and one folder.
You can have other stuff there, too, and it won't matter, it won't affect it...but those two files and one folder have to be there.

If you're gonna do the "try it" routine at a game shop, go on a Saturday afternoon when they are especially busy and you might get away with it....douchebag or no douchebag at the counter.

I STILL say that you ought to look into getting yourself a used DS Lite, at least...for this very purpose. You see, the Acekards will ALWAYS WORK on the DSLite and there's not a goddam thing Nintendo can ever do about that.

Whereas with the DSi, you'll be in constant battle with them every month or two, whenever they feel like screwing with your system again....and then you gotta wait for an update again, if an update is even possible. whereas if you also have a DS Lite...then, while you're waiting for an update, you can still use your card on the DS Lite.

Honestly, though, I just don't see what the big deal is with the DSi. I thought it was pretty good...the better sound was nice, the extra screen space was nice...the soft-reset was nice....but all the rest of it...who cares? The camera's shitty. The three things I just cited as being really good about the DSi....are not, IMNSHO, worth the aggravation of a constant battle with Nintendo over using Flashcarts.

I just want to do what I want to do and be left alone. Nintendo won't do that.

I predict Nintendo will eventually find a way to literally physically damage cards remotely...and use it to destroy cards instead of merely disabling them for a little while. I don't plan on being one of those who fall victim to that.

DS Lite forever for me! Screw the DSi!!!

Thanks.

As for the whole DSi ordeal, I wasn't too knowledgeable on the flashcard stuff so went with DSi as it was only £50 more expensive and I thought I could use the camera, which I do...I disagree with you that it's crap, it's actually pretty nice quality/ convenience wise, as my phone camera is even worse (I hardly upgrade my mobile phone).

As for the constant battle with Nintendo, I was REALLY stupid with this one. I was just messing about with the DSi at like 5am and saw the update and went "oh ok lets get it" and got myself into all kinds of trouble.
For future, I probably won't even update the DSi. I don't use the DSi Store and it's not like they are going to bring a feature that is so irresistible you can't live without it. So once my flashcard is working again (if I have the balls to do the shop trick), I'll just leave it as it is, as there won't be a need to update the DSi FW.

I can definitely see how DS Lite is much more convenient for all this but DSi is the same if you don't update the FW (which I won't).

Also, if I can't be bothered/ too worried about doing the shop trick and decide to buy a new card, will it even ship with the 1.4 update?
Because if it ships without it, I basically have another useless card.

It's so depressing...like you I got stuck with 1.4u update without a way to bypass it, got no dsl nor my friends have one.
I'm waiting eagerly for the update hopefully it will be soon for there is a fix for ppl who didn't made the mistake of updating the firmware without reading first.

*crossing fingers* please work it out fast acekard team T_T

Wow she really hates the DSi. Must be too lazy to wait for the Acekard to do a 30 second update.

I believe that if one team will release the after-update patch all other teams will bring out theirs too or they'll lose money :X just need one of them to put it out than the rest will make back breaking effort to release it as well.

last site update date:2009-08-04

Why would companies LOSE money for not releasing such an update? You buying a new cart is more likely to net them more money than updating a product they already have your money for.
