Hi there

just got a new 3DS which is v 1.1.0-1 E and didn't update it yet.

I saw the list of flashcards supporting the latest firmwares (3.x) and still can't choose which one to get ?

I don't care about GBA games nor do I care about other functionality than just running the ROMS. I had the M3 Real for my DS Lite and it always worked fine (until the DS died).

Which one of the Acecard 2i, M3 someting and R4something would you advise me to get ?

Most important being forward compatibility with further updates (and if the 3DS games ever get cracked, the likelyhood that this card would be updatable to make them work too).

Thanks !

P.S. Don't shoot me if this exact question has been answered already, cuz I didn't find anything like it...

I would get the AK2i. It's a great cart, you get a choice in loaders (Wood RPG, AKAIO) and it receives quick updates.
However, the DSTWO receives quicker/more updates than the AK2i. The AK2i wasn't updated for the Super Mario 3D Land update so anyone who wanted to play that game either had to wait for 3.0.0 to be released or not be able to use their AK2i until 3.0.0 was released and an AK2i update was released for 3.0.0. The DSTWO worked on the SM3DL update early on. Updates like these that are only included with games could happen again in the future so if you want the flashcart to be updated quickly every time Nintendo blocks it you should go with the DSTWO.
I can't speak for the R4i but I do know you get less choice in loaders with it, though Wood firmware and AKAIO are very similar.

Do you have another DS unit to do updates on? If not, then look into Flashcarts that can patch themselves without having to boot up 1st.

Unfortunately my DS Lite died (won't turn on or charge any more) so no I don't have another one for updates.

I don't really care about choice in loaders in stuff, as long as I can play games, even if the loader is pink with kitties on it, it's fine ;)

As I understand from the comments above, there is no clear consensus as to which one of the three "just works" in all circumstances without too much useless whistles, right ?

BTW, a bit off-topic but has anyone had this issue already ?

Thanks again !

DSTwo is imo the best flashcard there is for the DS/DSi/3DS

Acekard is really fast, bought one for my mum since she had a severely outdated DSTT.
All of her mahjong games worked again.

Ok thanks Kitty-fan ! :)

This one then, right ?
http://www.etcome.com/product/ak2i-card-for-3ds-dsi-ll-dsi-ds-lite-ds.html

and I have to update it to 3.x and then update the 3DS itself right ? with this :

http://www.acekard.com/download/ak2/ak2ifw_update_3ds3.0_DSi143.zip
http://www.acekard.com/download/akaio/AKAIO.1.8.9.zip

or is it better to leave everything alone and not update ?

Thanks again ! Sorry I just want to be sure not to mess up :)

Could get the Xmas edition that they are selling for the same price I believe, like collectable boxes for some reason.

There are also other place like zhuzhuchina selling for $12 which beats all retailers, plus they are very reputable.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
