The first teaser for the upcoming Minecraft movie, creatively titled A Minecraft Movie has released.

Starring Jack Black as Steve and an expanded cast that includes Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Eugene Hansen, A Minecraft Movie is slated for release April 4 2025 and is being directed by Jared Hess of Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite fame. The plot revolves around four misfits who are pulled into Minecraft's Overworld where they must learn to survive and protect it from dangers to eventually return home.

Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn't just help you craft, it's essential to one's survival! Four misfits—Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.

Actually, what was the point of filming in the Netherlands if 99% of the trailer (and most likely the whole film) is green screened?

this looks like those "minecraft in real life" videos from years ago except jack black is also there. i love how they literally just put him in a blue shirt and called it a day, they didn't even try to make him look like steve XD

This.... this might just be the worst official imagery of Minecraft that I have ever seen. Seeing everyone who actually likes this makes me believe that theyre inhuman and that they don't exist. On Twitter, this amount accumulated to approximately 100k people, so yeah.... I fucking hate this, and I don't like the idea of actually having a Minecraft movie.

They literally had the art style of the Minecraft trailers foe major updatedls to the game, and they also have Minecraft Story Mode. And once again, Jack Black fulfills a role in a popular movie. Now I'm starting to dislike hearing his name vecsjse almost every movie will take those that are known for something instead of using completely new ones.

Oh shit my fault it was New Zealand, I probably mixed it up with another film

You can have a movie targeted for kids, but still be amazing to adults, like I feel like Mario And Sonic did it well with their films, proving a point

Target audience affects what kind of story you tell, not how well you tell it. This does not look "well".
The difference is that Minecraft is completely focused on kids, while Sonic or Mario are trying to be more "for general audiences".

It's like complaining about the shallowness of the script of a Dora the Explorer movie.

Ugh, looks awful, and Jack Black playing Jack Black. I can't stand Jack Black.

I know this movie is obviously aimed at kids, and not for me, but if that's the case, why use a Beatles remix as a trailer song?

What makes you say Minecraft is "completely" focused on kids? The graphics? The lack of guns?

The movie will undoubtedly be marketed at kids, but kids would also probably prefer for the film to be good. Even if Minecraft was exclusively played by children...so what?

So the parents walk out the movie saying "at least there were some good songs on it"

I experienced this first hand when watching the Mario movie

Blud I feel like they would wanna target Minecraft to adults as well since we're the ones who helped make it mainstream and "nostalgia bait"

And a kid's property or not, it's still important to put in the effort to leave an impact to them

A little bit of all that, it is simply a game that although it was not originally conceived as such, over the years it has been especially attractive for children. In fact my nephews with 7 or 8 years old just wanted to play Minecraft.

So I see it logical that the target of the movie is the child audience, just look at the colorful costumes and expressions of the actors.

Mario and Sonic are games that have gone through several generations, so despite being animated characters, the nostalgia effect and the focus of the games, makes it attractive to an adult audience (obviously Minecraft is also played by adults, but it is not the main target).

What... The... Fuck... NO, STOP, DO NOT COME OUT, NOOOOOO. This is horrible, abominable, absolute shit. Jack Black being in the movie is the only reason there could be anything likable about this, take him out, this is basically one of mankind's worst movies. I have stated this numerous times before, and I am going to say it again, SOME THINGS ARE BEST LEFT AS VIDEO GAMES ONLY. I need bleach and an exorcist for my eyeballs and ears now.

Jesus Christ, Jack Black again?!
I can't see this doing well at all. Feels like Great Value Jumanji and I really can't see it appealing to people who aren't Minecraft fans.
Too much "oho, look! They're using a crafting table just like in the game!" And not enough of anything else.
And the CG looks bizzare.
What a trailer.
