that means it's missing the boot.firm

did you copy that to your desktop originally?

either way, get the boot.firm from the 7zip file from https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/tree/v9.0
Still getting the error.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

the original files that were on your SD card may have got corrupted :(
is it the original 2/4GB card that you got with it?
No, it's a 32 gb one. And I meant the original error, it turns on after replacing the file.

sounds like the files on your SD card are corrupted :(

format the SD card again using guiformat same settings
copy a fresh copy of the boot.firm and boot.3dsx onto the SD card
and follow https://3ds.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup from the start again
and give that a try (even before doing the guide fully, try update the 3ds before you do the guide again)

I have a flash card. I'm just going
Try replacing your boot.3dsx with a brand new one downloaded from the guide.

If you do some googling you might also find a fork of Luma where Rosalina has cia installing capabilities, so you could install it without needing to use the homebrew launcher.

Another possibility is you can inject FBI to health & safety (see injecting apps to health & safety in https://3ds.guide/godmode9-usage)

Got it! Using the modded luma with Rosalina and cia installer ended up working. I then updated from the super low firmware of 6.0 to 11.6 and everything is working as it should. Thanks for your help! Much appreciated

I didn't know you were on 6.0, it would probably have worked it you had updated. Glad you got it working though!

I'll try that. Could it be possible it didn't respond to the formatting because it was on the quick format option?

It said the test finished without errors.
so the SD card seems fine without errors,
was the 3ds having troubles before you modded it?

2 options to try,

first, enter the 3DS recovery mode to download it's update power on the 3ds while holding L+R+A and UP

second option try a ctr-transfer https://3ds.hacks.guide/ctrtransfer

i'm about to goto bed myself, hopefully one of the se fixes your problem, and you should be able to use your SD backup on your desktop

edit: wrong key for recovery mode

I'll probably try the ctr transfer since nothing else seems to have worked. But it'll have to wait until the morning, I'll let you know how it goes or if I have any other questions. And no, it wasn't having any issues before i tried installing cfw.

Haven’t touched my 3DS in ages and I’m wondering if I have to update anything. I’m running on 11.6 and Luma 9.0 and B9S 3.0 (or something like that) with GodMode9 1.4.2, FBI 2.4.14, Homebrew and Luma Updater where it’s giving me a “failed to obtain data” on launch. Anything I should update, include the things listed above and other things? Wanna make sure I’m finally up to date.

So now I've modded the game from the cartridge with the trim.cia file of the game, and the modder i used gives options to save the modded file as. I chose the .cia option so I could play it using FBI, but when i see it on FBI it reads as .3ds file. I'm a bit confused as to what I'm supposed to do now.
