Thanks for the response. I have boot.3dsx on the root. I can’t install cias because I can’t launch the homebrew menu through Rosalina to open fbi

Can you set the homebrew launcher to download play and open it that way? Following the instructions in https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup

I tried launching download play and opening rosalina, switching to homebrew, close download play, launch download play then it just hangs on the nintendo 3ds screen

Try replacing your boot.3dsx with a brand new one downloaded from the guide.

If you do some googling you might also find a fork of Luma where Rosalina has cia installing capabilities, so you could install it without needing to use the homebrew launcher.

Another possibility is you can inject FBI to health & safety (see injecting apps to health & safety in https://3ds.guide/godmode9-usage)

I replaced the boot.3dsx file, still no good. found the rosalina with cia install, it said the cia install was a success but nothing installed. I will try the inject but I believe this has something to do with the lower firmware...

just ask the question and dont worry about making a new thread, if it has lots of font changes and everything, just ask it, or paste it as plain-text via chrome, not sure about other browsers

if you typed it in word or such, poste it into notepad then copy it from that, it will remove all formatting

I'm new to hacking so I'm sorry if this is an obvious fix. I followed the 3ds.hacks guide and am on step 17 of finalizing setup, but can't proceed because of the error. I have all of the latest files for everything needed for the installation so I'm not sure what could be causing the error. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

ok, copy everything off your currentl SD card and put it into a folder on your Desktop, format the SD card with guiformat http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm set the allocation size to 32768
then copy everything back onto the SD card, it seems to be getting a read error,

then try update the 3ds again

that means it's missing the boot.firm

did you copy that to your desktop originally?

either way, get the boot.firm from the 7zip file from https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/tree/v9.0

Its in there, but I suppose I'll redownload it and replace it.
