Haha, I hadn't though of that!

"We're pretty sure, without any proof or evidence, that our engine won't be able to run on the 3D when it runs on weaker systems. Oh and BTW Nintendo hasn't given us a Devkit |B|"

Fixed your message for you. iPhone is weaker than the 3DS, end of story.

Oh, and the DS has real good games, Hatsworth, Pokemon series, Mario, Zelda (although it's not OoT), and a lot more decent games. If I want MGS, I can play it on my GAMEBOY EMULATOR. Yeah, it's for GameBoy. PSP2 is going to SUCK. >_

As much as I hate Sony fanboys, ignorant Nintendo ones annoy me as well.

First off, your edit makes no sense. Secondly, you can bet your ass that the iPhone is far more powerful than the 3DS. Apple puts a lot of expensive hardware into those things, because their resources are constantly being hogged by cellular functions, music, the OS and whatever else might be running. Hardware wise? The iPhone has a bloody A4 processor and 512MB or RAM. Nintendo's not gonna beat that. And they don't need to.

It shouldn't matter how powerful it is. Nintendo's motto has always been gameplay before graphics, and innovation has been what keeps them at the top. $ony and M$ don't care about innovation, just about profit, which leads to the same ideas being recycled over and over again. With this strategy, Sony or Mocrosoft can never win the console wars.

Well yeah i agree... First of all the iphone is not a handhaled gaming console. second is who cares about that when i phone gets flat graphics while the 3ds has a popup graphics..... Nintendo doesnt need to beat the iphone cause its NOT A HANDHELD GAMING CONSOLE!

Epic is not that epic.

That's not the point. It looks like the 3DS won't support the Unreal Engine 3 and that's quite disappointing and certainly not a good start considering that a lot of the coming games will use the UE3.
Ofc it won't support unreal engine since unreal engine can't render the 3D no glasses effect....
YEAH!!!!!!!!

and... if tne iphone has the UNREAL ENGINE 3 then the 3ds got the "3D ENGINE WITH NO GLASSES NEEDED UNLIKE THE UNREALENGINE3 THAT MANY "EPIC" GAMES USE...." engine

Who the fuck cares about how powerful a Console is (i would hardly call iPhone a console) It's all about controls and gameplay.

If you don't have controls, you don't have gameplay.
If you don't have gameplay, you don't have shit, no matter how powerful the platform.

Iphone should stick to games like Fruit Ninja
That game really sucks and the iPod Touch/iPhone is more than capable of handling more than that.

That said... The 3DS will have an actual D-pad (and analog controller). It is a pain in the ass to play platform, etc. games with a virtual D-Pad so that is at least some points towards the 3DS.

Also note that only the latest gen iPhones have the GPU and CPU update that can handle more intense graphics and processing which renders the older versions useless or downgraded.

Why does it matter how powerful the 3DS is? I've loved my DS for the 4 years I've owned it, and it's got nothing on the newer iPhones/iPods/iPad/iWhatever in terms of power. I'm not getting stupidly over-hyped for the 3DS, but seriously, whether or not it's more powerful than this year's iDevice isn't going to influence my purchase in the slightest.

On the UT3 engine not running, it'd be great if it could (many great games currently, probably a lot in the future), but it's not necessary. I'm more interested in new, original 3DS games than ports anyway (although portable Arkham Asylum would be orgasm-worthy).

it really makes no difference how powerful it is along as i can play some good games

i agree

Cause it matters ?

How many iPhone games can touch games that are only on a even slower DS such as DQ9, Pokémon, I've seen none.

It does matter! It does matter! If I can't count 600 billion polygons on Snake's stubble when I buy MGS3D, I'm getting a refund!

At this point, we're just saying the same here. Gameplay over graphics. All in favor?

I haven't been saying that (Though i agree with it.) I've simply been arguing that the iPhone is indeed far more powerful than anything Nintendo will put out, but is in fact very limited very limited, graphics wise, by the nature of smartphones. That, and all it has for controls are a capacitive touch screen and accelerometer.

The other point I made was that Epic Games doesn't know squat about the 3DS anyway.

I'm not worried, Nintendo games have never been about cutting edge graphics and power.

The wii had nowhere near the power of the other consoles of that gen but look at games like mario galaxy, where not at any point did I feel as though the graphics were suffering.

Sure the iphone has a better processor, you can't use it for phone calls so it might as well be useful for something.

Just like how the N64 and Gamecube were weaker than the competi- wait they wern't

Anyways more power doesn't just mean better graphics. What about physics, calculations, AI, etc

3DS ‘below’ Epic’s minimum specs

Says new handheld is not powerful enough to run games such as iPhone’s Epic Citadel.

Mark Rein, the boss of developer Epic Games, has stated that as far as he’s aware the 3DS is not powerful enough to port over any version of the studio’s Unreal Engine. This is particularly interesting as Epic’s first iPhone title, Epic Citadel, was released on iPhone last month, blowing away the specialist press with its amazing portable visuals in the process.

A feat, seemingly, that 3DS will not be able to match.

“It's below our minimum specifications, from what we can tell,” Rein told Joystiq.

“We don't have a 3DS, so there's no way for us to verify that but everything we've been led to believe is that it's below our min-spec. You couldn't do a game that looks like Epic Citadel on it, for example.

Hmmm what do you guys think?
i think that it is a good thing i was not planning on getting a 3ds anyways

That's mostly dependent on the CPU instead of the GPU
