noticed something while testing ARMSX2 for Android compatibility and wanted to bring it to the attention of other HD texture-pack creators here.
ARMSX2 has a built-in section where users can download HD texture packs directly through the app. Looking through the list, I found several of my own older texture packs being offered as “Community Archive Texture Packs.”
These are credited to my old username, C0meg3ts0me, so I'm not saying they removed my credit. However, I never submitted these packs to ARMSX2 and I never gave permission for my packs to be redistributed through their built-in downloader.
Some of mine that I found include ICO, Scarface: The World Is Yours, Cold Fear, Extermination, Final Fight: Streetwise, and Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance.
From what I can see, a large collection of community HD texture packs has also been uploaded to Internet Archive, and ARMSX2 appears to be using that archive as a source for at least some of the packs available through its built-in downloader. There are hundreds of packs listed from many different creators. Some entries even state that the original texture-pack creator could not be identified in the public mirror.
I'm curious whether the other texture-pack creators here already knew about this.
If your work is listed there, did you personally submit it or give permission for it to be uploaded to the archive and redistributed through ARMSX2?
I'm not trying to accuse every person involved of anything without knowing the full story. I'm posting because I can confirm that my own packs are there without my authorization, and I'd like to know whether other creators are in the same situation.
