hey guys,

i got two questions:

1) i want a 2,5" hdd on my wiiu. i read that its better to use a 3,5" with a own power supply.
after all i read, that i can use also a 2,5" with a y-usb-cable.

is that true? and if yes, it doesnt matter which 2,5" hdd?

2) how do i transfer my wiiu data from one hdd to another hdd?
i found a guide (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/la...p?menu=how_to&submenu=wup-usb-ht-transfer-usb) but i actually want to know if i can do that with a pc software, cause i dont want to move files to the intern storage and than to the external again. these steps are "stupid" :(

best regards

1. Generally the Wii U's individual USB ports each do not provide enough power to reliably power a USB drive. an external power source is recommended, otherwise connecting to two USB ports with a Y-cable will provide sufficient power for most if not all 2.5" drives. I believe Nintendo's compatibility list simply comprises external drives that have low power draw and/or come with a USB y-cable in the box, but you can always get your own cable for $2 on eBay (more if you're in a hurry).

2. Any transferring is done through Wii U system settings. you will be prompted to do so when plugging two drives in at startup. Hard drives can only be attached or disconnected when the Wii U is turned off. The Wii U uses an unique file system that cannot be read or properly worked with by other systems, with validation methods that help verify the information on the drive. Your only solution is to go to data management, select all data on the old drive and move, then go do something else (grab a bite to eat, browse the internet, spank the monkey, etc)
