kinda off topic, but does anyone know where the data.rsdk go for the pc version? I just compiled it. it opens, but nothing happens, and I think it's because the data file is in the wrong location. I could find no information on this one.

Just a minor suggestion, so in the future both ports can coexist if the user wants to, as 0.1 is the final build. Make your forwarder point to clownacy's port at:
SD:/wiiu/apps/SonicManiaPlus01/sonicmaniaplus.rpx

And:
SD:/wiiu/apps/SonicMania01/sonicmania.rpx

This way, the future port can use:
SD:/wiiu/apps/SonicManiaPlus/sonicmaniaplus.rpx

SD:/wiiu/apps/SonicMania/sonicmania.rpx

That one will probably (and hopefully) read the Data.rsdk from the rpx location instead of a folder outside the app.

Not true. I purposefully powered off the Gamepad and reconnected, both on the menu and in-game. Still worked.

Again, not true. Languages work perfect.

That's a bit rude, don't you think? After all, the point was to start enjoying the game while rad takes his time doing all the things he mentioned wanting to do in his stream. Clownacy's port was made in record time and almost fully functional.
Hey, I didn't lie, I tested it as soon as the link was made available (before v0.2 ) and I had these problems in my test.

I didn't mean to be rude, I even thanked them for doing this work on the Wii U, the reason I said it was better to wait for the Radfordhound port is because I didn't think Clownacy would continue working on the port for improve it.

I think I may have found the cause. I didn't have the game.dll. unfortunately, I deleted the project before testing. I don't know if anything else is needed, but I built a win32 version of the exe.

It's okey. Sans the Special 3D stage (which all ports suffer in it), it's still a perfectly enjoyable experience. Keep in mind that the errors you said you have, I did report as working before, using the same exact version as there wasn't a 0.2, which most probably means something could be corrupted with your files or SD.

Right next to the exe. Nothing out of the ordinary.

First of all, hats off to all who got it going, from the decompile, to the android and vita ports and now this. It's truly crazy to see Mania running on Wii U, makes me wonder why it was never released in the first place. I have played it and even with the stage select, man... nuts. May have to whip out my crt and see it run on that. I saw that it has a 4:3 aspect ratio but in letterbox. We'll see. Many props.

I'm attempting to build the wiiu version. everything is compiled except I need a newer version of cmake, which must also be compiled and installed. the latest version doesn't seem to exist via pacman.

When Sonic Mania was released the Nintendo Switch was already on the market, although some games were still out on the console (like Darksider Warmastered in April) the Wii U was considered a failure and had a much smaller playerbase than the PS4 or Xbox One, it did It makes more sense for SEGA to invest in the Switch port than for the Wii U.

I believe that was the only reason, I'm pretty sure that if the Switch wasn't released in the same year as Sonic Mania both the Wii U and 3DS would get a official port (the 3DS port almost happened, but unfortunately it never saw the light of day).

For me, who at the time only had the Wii U and 3DS as a console, it was very disappointing, but it's really cool to finally be able to play Sonic Mania on these consoles after so many years (at least on the Wii U, unfortunately my 3DS is the Old one)

windows 7, I don't know. I'm on windows 10. I'm compiling the wiiu version now. cmake took a very long time to compile the newest version using my old version. didn't realize it, but I had to exit the terminal to flush the cache, so the wiiu build is compiling now.

Okay, firstly many thanks to @ploggy for the never ending assistance and also @Maschell, both for their patience last night!!!

I've been trying to make a forwarder for this but the boot sound has been giving me real problems. I wanted to use the std sonic ring sound but it decides to loop as soon as it ends all the way to game booting. So I made the track longer and with loop points that are silent but we then get an audible clipping all the way to game boot (it's a good 40 odd seconds for me) and that's worse than before.

So my last effort was to test the limit of this. I used a 40 second music clip that didn't play at all so I shortened it lesser and lesser and the same happened again. The best I can get is a 12 second sample that loops all the way to game boot. Not good. At all. With any sound.

So.... here I unfortunately offer you a silent forwarder I'm afraid!!! (I just like the start up sounds!!)

All paths point to - sd:/wiiu/apps/sonicmania/sonicmania.rpx

So, even if you have the Mania Plus rpx like me (and I don't know why you wouldn't?), just rename your folder and rpx file to the above and your good to go!

Edit.....

I also added the separate vanilla and plus versions made with the images in the below post HERE

I also made banners and icons for both vanilla mania and plus a few hours ago, I'll share them here for anyone who would like to use them.
