Being a big resident evil fan, and someone who played RE1 when it was released, I can't express how disapoited I am of path the franchise is taking. Of course I am not saying the new game isn't good, but it's simply not the Resident Evil we know.

This being said I created this thread, not to debate about the game but mainly for people suggest a new names to the game, which is obviously not resident evil.

Seeking for answers to misterious events, you are left in an unknown place, were dog-like creatures, zombified mutants and corpse-like monsters start to attack you, then you enter to an abandoned place full of dangers, puzzles, find out that monsters are infected by a Virus/parasite and you need to survive using guns and war weapons, herbs to heal you and try to find an exit, encountering in the way boss fights with gigantic mutated bosses such as giant man eater plants, giant dogs and oversized humanoids trying to kill you. Oh, and in the way, you discoverd the truth behind all of the chaos.

Guess which game I'm talking about now!!!

3. Resident Evil: Code Veronica
4. Resident Evil 3
5. Resident Evil 4
6. Resident Evil 5
7. Resident Evil 7
8. Resident Evil 8

See? This is why all the people crying "ThIs Is nO ReSiDenT Evil Anymoar bua bua bua cry cry cry" in fact are only following a trend because my favorite youtuber says that "RE is dead wholesome based OMG so true".

I haven't played RE7 or RE8, but where do people define the RE "we know".
the veterans would probably say Code Veronica X or RE4. which is funny since I remember people called RE4 not a real RE since it was too heavy on action.

My take is they should've made it a spin-off or a new IP, it worked well for Umbrella Chronicles. The Story is too convoluted now anyway if you count in the terrible movies.

PS: from what I've seen this is actually more back to roots since I've heard RE7 is really scary in VR and 8 is the same style. a return to horror and survival

That's the thing, people who say that new RE games lost their originally have different views, for me I like the first 3 the most, as they used to really make me not be able to sleep at night lol

Resident Evil is just one of those series that changes styles so much that you're gonna have to either take those changes or leave them.

The fact is, after the first RE movie came about, it seems like the devs were interested in replicating that in the games themselves. Not just RE4, but there was also a laser trap QTE in RE Umbrella Chronicles in the last mission of the game right before you fight the final boss.

I just don't think the fixed camera angles are gonna be coming back. And honestly, there's not much in terms of "horror" in these games that would make me have nightmares in my sleep for me personally. Even Silent Hill 2, by the end of it, I was more remarking to myself how all of the stuff that went down in the game with the characters and the story itself could've just been a well-written book as opposed to a video game where you have to go thru the effort of gamifying what is a story mostly about people's mental states than it is about surviving against a cult that's trying to take over the world like it is in SH1 and 3 and whatever the fuck happens after SH4.
