Maybe you should reread the first post. It's about setting the VC DS title that it does not need the pad.I think that's because haxchi uses a ds vc game. And the game needs the gamepad. Otherwise you can't "play" the game. Install cbhc. This doesn't need the gamepad

Please read the OP of this thread. The a=sysmenu is required when you do the VC DS title meta.xml change. When the pad is not connected it behaves like A is pressed and if A is mapped to some other homebrew it will not let you run it when the pad is disconnected.

the game may not be working for you, because you're not using the title id of the op. are you sure you and he are using the same ds title for haxchi? you can easily get the title id by using saviine or going to haxchi's github.

I mean if you just want to load haxchi, can't load anything else but default without gamepad. I've never done this mod, so I don't know what else could be wrong. however, drc is always the system's name for the gamepad (in fact the image that appears on the gamepad when loading a game has drc in the name I believe), so it's probably the right thing that needs to be changed. I checked mine, and by default it's 2. what's odd is that it's not 1 by default with 0 being off. that's usually how it is with settings, but nintendo must've decided to put 2 as use and 1 as don't use instead for unknown reasons. does the gamepad still work with 1 as its setting?
I am not sure I understand your post. I changed drc_use to 1 (was 2 previously) as was suggested in OP and other threads. For me and some others this does not work. I am still asked to connect the WiiU pad when starting Haxchi.
The only time I was not asked to connect the upad is when I reinstalled the modified Haxchi which actually should do the same thing (changing drc_use to 1). But after WiiU restart, running Haxchi was asking for the upad again.
This is weird. My Haxchi fork removes the gamepad requirement both from the DS game and Mii Maker so you should never see the warning.
I have no idea why it would stop working after a reboot.
