ROM Hack [WIP] Yo-kai Watch 1 Switch English Translation Project

Alright everyone YW1 mod translation version 1.0.1 has now been officially released! This release includes 2 extra folders, one being cheats codes and one being Optics 100% medallium save file. But, (PLEASE NOTE) when using the cheat code version of the game it has been noted to cause game crashes at times with some in game events where it changes some game values that can clash with the translation mod so you have been warned. What I advise is just using the cheat codes when you get all the variety of Yo-kai Coins and want to use the Crank-a-kai. Using the mods will put any item you have in your inventory to x99 so that will give you unlimited coins while also removing the daily draw limit from the crank-a-kai so you can draw until your heart is content. This version also lastly now has a README file for all future mod installation instructions and any other details you may be wondering regarding the mod. And for update changes, this 1.0.1 update fully translates and polishes up all shop menu and crank-a-kai text in the game. Enjoy the mod!

is it possible to upload it to google drive like the previous releases or separate the normal version and the cheat version?

Hi there! Thanks for the latest update. I've downloaded the file, deleted the previous one and copied the latest one to content. is everything supossed to be the same as update 1.0.0? I mean the menu button still has the Japanese text, abd still some Japanese text, its like the 1.0.0 version. Apologies if i am wrong. Greetings

That is correct, those aren’t text files those are image files. Kuriimu2 can’t currently extract those because of Level-5’s new compression used for the Nintendo Switch. I’ve submitted a ticket on the developers Github for the issue and they are working on it. Once it’s done I’ll extract all images and icons and take those into photoshop to work the English translation Magick on them as well.

A final game breaking bug was found in the second from last boss in the Infinite Inferno and it's now been resolved in the new 1.0.2 update. I had yet to beat it myself until tonight, hence I didn't find the bug until now. So as always I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused for those out there like me who spent all that time in the Infinite Inferno just to get to that boss and then be met with a game crash.. Yeah lol I apologize once again. But no worries it's fixed now! So go grab this new update and hop back into your favorite world Of Yo-kai Watch!

Hello! I just joined this site and have been a Yo-Kai Watch fan since 2016ish! How can I download these mods? My copy of the switch version is coming in the mail soon, and I really want to translate it. Thanks!

PS: is it just a textual translation? or are the voices also like in the english 3ds release? Thanks!

Your switch has to be able to be hacked or moded either using SxOs or Atmosphere .
Do you know if your switch is a hackable one ?
The audio could not be replace as the lenght id doffrent from the 3ds version .
Its only the text

Atmosphere is free , if You don't need to install the solder Sxos chip.

Also, just to reassure, it translates ALL of the text? or just the text boxes that pop up as dialogue?

The full game is translated minus the text in the game that’s actually static game images and icons. Those text can’t be currently replaced because Kuriimu2 the translation Tool I’m using for the mod doesn’t support the new compression system used for this game so I’m waiting for the tool to be updated which will hopefully happen soon and then I’ll get those last things translated as well.

Thanks for the translation, I was finally able to enjoy playing it in English on my Switch.
I was lucky enough to get Pandanoko to appear in Wayfarer Manor using the backup files from the link.
