Here an update (including source for the github) that allows custom naming of folders. Also as a quality of life upgrade, the currently active folder is selected on startup.

The custom names can be defined in 3DSBank/3DSBank.ini like so:
[3DSBANK]
SLOT_NAME_0 = Favorites
SLOT_NAME_1 = More Fav.
SLOT_NAME_2 = Homebrew Games
etc....

Cheers!

Super awesome work! thanks!

I added a comment and link to your post here: https://github.com/RocketRobz/3DSBank/issues/1

Maybe you could open a PR on GITHUB and work with @Robz8 to get it merged into the official release at some point?

EDIT: It looks like its already being done - yay! :)

What's new?
  • (@DrStraightface) Updated to allow custom naming of folders, and having currently active folder selected on startup!
    • See the README (or first post) for instructions.
  • Year has been added to the bottom of the top screen, along with the developer's name.
  • Robz8 has been to changed to RocketRobz in the banner text.
    • To see the change, delete 3DSBank in DSiWare Data Management, then install the CIA again.
Improvement
  • Dithering effect on the top screen has been removed!

Many thanks for this much needed update.

To be perfect, it's missing the ability to rename folders from the 3ds, without resorting to a pc.

I'm currently having a problem that's related to either 3DSBank or Forwarder, so I'll post here first.

I installed the updated 3DSBank and created a 3rd Menu for Forwarded NDS titles.
After installed over 100 into this new Menu, I realised some were overlapping older titles, so I wanted to uninstall the Forwarder CIAs.

Edit:
I found out that the Forwarded CIAs install as DSiWare, so I guess my problem is there.

Hi, I am obviously a fan of Twilight Menu++. Since there was a recent unexpected firmware update, many people are going to be deleting their pending updates by clearing out the "Pending Titles" folder. I read somewhere that clearing this folder might cause conflicts if you have titles installed on a different SD card. Should I tread carefully with this, if I want to use 3DSbank?

So it's safe to play online when using this?
Yes.

I see no reason why this would cause issues.

Loving this tool so far but is there a way to manually move games and savedata to the new folder, without having to uninstall the game outright? I’m trying to have a folder for VC games and mainline games but I don’t want to have to spend hours downloading all the games again.

We'd need a way to figure out which game to move though.

Thank you for sharing this info, I was about to start installing 1003 NDS forwarders/cias into four 3DSBank folders and 397 DSIWare cias into two 3DSBank folders but now learning that they install as DSiWare, I guess it's a Nono. What a bummer! I was really looking forward to this.

Warm regards,
Pepois

Of course TWLNAND is small, but it wouldn't take much to move less than 150MB to the SD card

I thought the TWLNAND was actually very very very very very small? Unless I'm wrong? You can't just move the installed DSiWare games off of the NAND to the SD and back..

..i may be wrong don't yell at me lol

Mmm-hmm. The games that use online services cannot detect whether or not you changed your 3DS folder --Hmm, even using Nintendo online services like eShop, Web Browser, etc. can't detect you using a different folder. It just can't. (For now..!)

    @SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

    I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

    I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

    So that version is semi rare
