Some config.bin files for different button combinations to access Rosalina menu in case of broken buttons.

Because there was another case (with broken dpad this time – which is harder to fix than the shoulder buttons) I’ve added another two button combinations.

If you have a 2/3DS with some broken shoulder buttons or broken dpad – download one of the attached zip files with a button combinations that will work for your device and unzip the config.bin to SD:/luma

If you dislike the combinations I made, you can still download one applicable on your console, open the Rosalina menu open with it and go to “Miscellaneous options…” → “Change the menu combo”. You can now enter a new combination. (Don’t forget “Save settings” after that.)

Shoulder buttons on any 3DS (not 2DS) system are relatively easy to replace and the parts are cheap. Visit ifixit, select your model and you will find a nice guide. One warning: Use the correct screwdriver! The screws are quite tight and can be stripped easily if you have the wrong tool.

Edit: The config files also work for Luma v10.0 and v10.0.1

Okay. I will prepare it and edit this message when finished. Give me some minutes.

Unzip the file and put config.bin to
SD:/Luma/
(rename your existing config.bin, in case you want to keep it)
Why zip a 32 Byte file and make it bigger that way? The forum does not allow to upload *.bin files.

Two combinations:
A+X+Down and R+Down+A

You can change it as you like. And think about replacing the buttons; It is easy and they are cheap.

I'm so sorry but my R is broken as well ....

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

can you do other combo for me or explain me how you can do this please

Hopefully I did not mess up this. Concentration is not good today. Try the config.bin in A+X+Down.zip
If anything is wrong, tell me.

Newer versions of Luma have the option to change the combination in the config file. Tell me, what button is broken, and I will upload a config file with a combination working for you.

Edit:
And you can fix the button very easily if it is any 3DS (not 2DS) model. Look on ifixit.com for your device.

Since everything works for me with Luma3DS v9.1 I did not update my gaming devices… and didn't even notice that v10.2 does not use the same config data as v9.1 and 10.0.x since switching around various versions and bringing up the settings screen is totally normal on the test console.
With now two "Does not work"-posts without any explanation I assume it is about my config.bin files above.

Some config.bin files for different button combinations to access Rosalina menu in case of broken buttons (for Luma3DS v10.2)

If this does not work or I saved the wrong combination(s), please reply and describe the issue.

Everybody: Good luck and have fun!

Edit:
Other people with more skills have way better ideas than me. Generate any config.bin like you want with:

All credits goes to Luma3DS CFW developer and those who helped me to compile this freaking CFW, i haven't done much except editing one line in a .h file. (and write "make" in a cmd prompt)

Luma v8.0 commit 52a1883 : (i will update them, for sure !)

New combo : (to open Rosalina)

- R + SELECT + Down
- A + X + Down

EDIT: that's not soemthing huge actually but eh, it's still good

^_^ Glad this is here just in case my L or R decides to depart from the land of the buttons!

Use EmuNAND FIRM if booting with R
Enable loading external FIRMs and modules
Enable game patching
Show NAND or user string in System Settings
Show GBA boot screen in patched AGB_FIRM
Patch ARM9 access
Set developer UNITINFO

Can I get a Config for Luma 12.0? Trying to mod my little cousin's 3DS but the L Button refuses to cooperate haha

Both, me making some example config.bin as well as the config generator above, aren't needed anymore.
Since Luma3DS v11.0 the configuration is stored in human readable form (config.ini) -- Just open the file in your preferred text editor and search for the line
rosalina_menu_combo = L+Down+Select
Enter whatever you like.

Replace that button anyway. A 3DS without shoulder buttons is just... meh.

Good luck and have fun!

Somehow even editing the config ini doesn't do anything for me.
