I heard good stories about Kingdom Hearts unfortunately I never played it since of the Disney Characters and that kinda put me off.

You might be surprised

Once you dive into the lore, you no longer see them as Disney characters, they have their unique character development, they feel like "paid actors" playing their role into the KH universe.

As somebody who played union x like crazy (part of a top 5 guild in Unicornis) I was so disappointed about how the game turned out that I completely quit and sold my account. I used to grind for hours and hours in that game. But they messed up big time with extreme powercreep. I have been playing other gacha since and I dont miss it at all. Overpriced weekly VIP packs, extreme powercreep and p2w challenges. I love gacha games because they are fun most of the time and have alot of new content every week, but I dont know if I am excited for this. If they handle Dark Road like they did Union X oh boy it'll be a disaster

It's a really nice game and story, but it's not for everyone. Try the game at your own risk and respet people who play it.

I believe that the Union χ story is wrapping up soon as well. Or--at least it is in Japan. I'm gonna go ahead and give this a shot now. Can't get left behind in the KH lore.
Figure I'd talk to myself in an update.

So I gave the game a shot. Played for about 2 hours or so. Now, I know basically all the main story beats of Kingdom Hearts as I've been keeping up with it and trying to stay on top of the story. The plot in this--although it's obviously nowhere near as wacky as the plot of Union χ (yet)--was still a little too confusing for my comfort.

I can't imagine someone who isn't invested in the lore will find this as a very good starting point. It references the events of Union χ and gives us some nuggets of information that we were wondering since DDD as well as info we were curious about since KH3. However the information is both overly explained and very cryptic.

The gameplay itself is very grindy and you can tell this is going to be a painfully slow drip-fed story like Union χ (which I gave up around chapter 850 and just started watching Everglow's videos to keep up to date). Honestly, it's only been 1 day and I only played it for about 2 hours but I'm already thinking that this may not be something I want to invest my time in right now.

I'm normally against telling new fans of the series to JuSt WaTcH tHe ClIpS oN yOuTuBe, and I still maintain that stance when it comes to the main games. But for the two mobile games, I think you can get away with watching the clips as the gameplay isn't very engaging.

And that's my quick and unedited and lazy review that I wrote on the spot.

7/10.

The battle system is an interesting evolution of the typical "match 3 out of 5 colored attacks" battle system most mobage tend to go for, but i was constantly brushing up against annoyances that made me irritated every time I was having a little bit of fun.

Battle system is somewhat strategic and more engaging than Union Cross? It's a chore to make any progress in the game, and you basically have to leave the game on idle mode for hours on end just to hit a couple of objectives.

Story seems interesting? Haha. We all know why this one is a problem.

Other than that, it seems okay? Not particularly groundbreaking, and still suffering from SquEnix's bullshit monetization schemes, but somewhat bearable. At least you can just leave the game sitting to grind without having to manually go through hundreds of story quests just to get to the plot.

I'd also say it's not as bad about Lore References as other games in the franchise. Sometimes it's okay for a game to start out with a bunch of questions and references to stuff you might not know about yet. It largely just explains the current situation of the world with vague references to Union Cross. It tells you all the worlds were destroyed, and they're being brought back slowly and at different rates, and the main characters have to explore them to find some missing guys. That's about the extent of what we need to know for the plot to make sense (for now).

As mentioned above there are 2 channels that always translate the JP scenes and compile them together for the people who do not want to play union or this game. One of them being everglow and the other being KHinsider that I prefer more since the JP translations are done more quickly and better plus that channel always immediately updates the playlist, so it's all easier to find everything because of being better organized

Yeah, and they are also still translating this game even if it is coming global at the same time as it comes out in Japan. They are doing an amazing work there.
