Alex Kidd returns in the newly announced Miracle World DX remake

Before Sonic was on the scene, SEGA's mascot was Alex Kidd, who starred in Alex Kidd in Miracle World, a Master System game that released back in 1986. Now, more than thirty years later, that game is getting a remake. Merge Games, who published the recently released Streets of Rage 4 will be on board with the project, with the game to release on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and "Xbox and PlayStation consoles", according to IGN, who revealed the game during their Summer of Gaming event. The remake will feature new levels, modes, and boss battles, and even a "retro mode" as well, all based upon the original game. Currently, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is set for a Q1 2021 launch.

I remember saving up for god how long to get a Sega Master System II, this game was built in so no cart was needed.

I remember I got stuck at the last stage where you have to walk over the picture tiles, I was young, for the life of me didn't know the order. So I called up the Sega helpline and the guy on the phone gave me the answer, then when the phone bill came, my parents questioned me about this phone call and the cost, yeah I got in trouble.

The original game was so freaking hard. My sister and I tried to play it and we couldn't survive without save states. I was wondering how did we play the game in the 90s

Great game from the past my older brother and I never finished it when we were kids.

They certainly will make it less difficult since by today standards it's ultra difficult.

The original one was my first video game ever, so it holds a special place in my heart..

This. My parents brought home a master system with f1 grand Prix and Alex kidd built in and its been on since. Hell, thats where avatar is from.

But yeah this game looks like shit, the wonder boy 3 remake's art style was way better

A surprise, but a welcome one. Pleased to see you back, Alex Kidd.

I love the concept and the more retro revivals the better.

But... why are the colours so washed out? The first thing I think of when I hear Alex Kidd is bright, contrasted colours. The remake seems to lack a punch in the visuals. (Pun also intended)

Washed out? I feel the modern graphical updates more than makes up for it, making the setting feel pretty lived in.

Probably the reason it was so bright back then was due where the games were developed back then (CRT TVs). Same thing shared with many other retro games of the time.

Dang I loved Miracle World! I'm pretty sure I can do the first level and the motorbike level from muscle memory. I'm glad they've decided to give it some love. I wonder if the janken combinations will be kept the same?

I think I might like like this. Yesterday I was playing Sega Ages Phantasy Star on my Nintendo Switch the toilet. I tought to myself since the Master System is basicly a GameGear this is the proper way to play GameGear in 2020.
Alex Kid released on the GameGear as well. I´ll buy this on Switch instead of a GameGear Micro, very nice.
Maybe 25 years later I have enough skill to beat the game. Or maybe they introduce easy mode.

I got the Sega Master System I but a cardridge with the game was included in it.

The game was good DESPITE the obligatory Rock-Paper-Scissors not because of it.

What they do in the sequel? Fill it with Rock-Paper-Scissors to the death, even to get items.
