My guess is that once they have homebrew then they won't release a new kernel exploit until all the homebrew runs on the newer version.

yes. And i just wanted to add i have had wonderful vr experiences with my console. Job simulator was great. Resident evil 7 really changed my mind about what vr could bring to the table. There is something to be said for vr shooters as well. I find the kart racing game amazing! Vr in total is a Really interesting experience. So don’t necessarily give up on vr based on a few people giving it a bad rap especially the psvr. Sadly I have also had some experiences where like I got really sick really fast. So vr has to be done right. Lately what i have become interested in is potential use with retroarch for things like virtual boy or the 3d famicom disk games. Could be really cool homebrew applications for vr. Steam in linux is also a thing for vr. Definitely something you want for your jailbroken console i feel.

stupid question, Just read Hen 2.1.2 released with FW 7.02 spoof, Support for external HDDs with firmware 7.xx format. what does that mean? does it mean i can play official game with firmware requirement pass 5.05 without needing to update the console?
it just allows you to plug external hdd from 7.02 console to current 5.05 but you cant just run anything requires 5.05+ iirc.
basically it's for psvr when you use it on both system 7.02 and 5.05 (in case you have both).

most people get a second ps4. To be honest the choices in terms of ps2 ps4 and psvr is intense. The backlog is real. In my case what i do is play on my xbox one x with gamepass or on pc. But i am def hurting cause of last of us 2 boy oh boy do i want that...might be time for me to buy a third ps4 just for that one game...won’t someone release a newer kexploit...pretty please?
Some people play older games, some buy a second console, some aren't playing games on their PS4. The question isn't is it worth it now, but will it be worth it in the future. If we knew that in two years time that an exploit would come out for a specific firmware, then you could argue that upgrading to that version now would be better than waiting. But we don't know that.
Ok cool thanks guys reason why I asked because I had bought one maybe last year and I ended up selling it. The games available I already had the disk or it was already bought via PSN.... I'm so used to PS3/PSP where you can just bypass firmware requirements but the PS4 was different.
I wish the PS4 hardware was pushed to it's limits in emulation but I guess nobody is interested

i hope you are aware ps4 retroarch is now a thing also keep in mind linux is also quite powerful on a ps4
I don't see much benefit from the SDK being developed by CrazyVoid and its team .
4.50 SDK OFFICIAL SONY is public and also into the dev scene the last SDK was leaked in private :
The possibility of developing homebrew there, the dev to develop homebrew are there. But without a public exploit on recent firmware no dev will ever set to work to develop serious homebrew.
PS4 CFW let me tell you my experience.
The PS4 scene is nothing like what the PS3 scene was. - Services now exist which make game "renting" a lot cheaper than it ever has been.
I bought my PS4 (Batman Limited edition) as soon as the 4.55 exploit was announced and released. - Wasn't cheap £300, but was brand new and sealed.
I waited a while, I had fun with the Batman console, but it wasn't a Pro. As soon as 5.05 was released, I managed to get a PS4 Pro, again brand new. Was bundled with 5 games at a local supermarket for £350.
Time past, I had fun with VR, games and more.
Days gone got released and this is what forced me to buy another PS4 Pro.
If the PS4 scene is where you want to be and also is your go to console; you should own two. One for online, one for offline.
Currently I have my PS4 Pro 5.05 in its box waiting to be updated.
My other PS4 Pro is updated to the latest firmware for the games each month and when some games are too good to pass off (PSN sale & LoU2).
PS after all the above, I rarely play PS4. I am at home on Xbox One X.

Are you insane?? Who touch oficial SDK to make homebrew is asking for Sony's lawyer...
A open source SDK is for the devs to be on the safe side...but are there enough dev out there on 5.05???
That's why I think getting 2nd ps4 is not necessary. It is a waste money. If you really want to play for free.. You gotta to be patient and be happy with 5.05 for now. Getting 2nd PS4 doesn't make sense because you are buying games but getting free for other PS4 jailbreak ? What ? It doesn't make sense at all.
And someone will release a newer kexploit but you can't say pretty please. PS5 is coming and they will release kexploit unexpectedly surprise to us. That's why I am waiting and patient. I dont want to bother them at all. Be patient.

i know boss I agree. Thing is I am a big fan of last of us and wouldn't mind paying for that. It's definitely the one that might break me!
You mean a sequel or first game of Last of US ? A first game of Last of Us is available to be free and playable on 5.05 if you didn't know.
If a sequel then I can't wait too but I gotta be patient and wait for kexploit to be release after PS5 is arrive. That's what I am thinking. I believe it will be release after PS5.
