I was playing mother 3 on mGBA and tried to save which crashed the game, and my 2DS XL wanted to update previously, so it did and now it won't turn on, is there anything I can do to fix it?
First of all the 3ds just doesn't manually uodate itself. Youbalways get asked if youbwant to update then you get the warning about making sure the 2ds is plugged into a power supply.

Secondly to help you we need more information like what was the previous firmware of the 2ds? what cfw are you running? What version was the cfw? The more information the easier it will be to fix your problem.

When my 2DS Crashed, it turned of a didn't turn back on, moments ago, I was told that a knew update was available and it would happen during sleep mode, I'm talking about one for the 2DS itself, not the custom firmware, also it was version 11.9.

Yes the 2ds will download the update in sleep mode but you still have to select ok to install it as i previously said. You could have got rid of the doenloaded update without installing it by entering recovery mode. And the reason I ask about what make and version of cfw you have is some older versions of cfw don't work on the latest system update. For instance Rei-Six cfw works on 11.9 but not on the latest system version.

Absolutely, lesson learned, just for everyone to know I did purchase this on a black Friday Amazon deal for 'Samsung 256gb 100mb/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO' sold by 'Amazon.xxx Services, inc' 25.99 was pretty hard deal to pass up, reviews seemed goon until after I went back and realized they lump all storage size into same reviews so review pool is 4gb cards to 500gb+. As soon as I searched 256gb in reviews they almost all came back negative as defective or fake.

I initiated the return as soon as i saw the bad results. Thanks again for the insight! thanks again to the community as a whole have been using this site for years and never posted a question was always able to find the answers lol (my wii u especially thanks gbatemp!)
Look for the Walmart's in-store SD card brand, onn.. (see my signature). You can purchase their 256 GB microSD card for around $33 + state tax.

Recovery mode.

Conditions
  1. If the above doesn't revive a black screen boot,
  2. your o2DS softbricked itself due to a failed or incomplete system update,
  3. the o2DS does not have custom firmware installed,
, you will need to fixed this by hacking the 2DS with ntrboot using a compatible DS flashcart [see the R4i Gold 3DS Plus in my signature if you don't have another working (2/3)DS(i)(XL/LL)(lite/phat) system] + 3DS firmware repair with CTRTransfer.

***

Edit 1 - Herpity derp. You mentioned mGBA, so that means you have CFW.

Another thing you can try other than CTRTransfer is the battery trick.

Edit 2 - Forgot to add. If you get the "Failed to apply 1 FIRM patch(es)" error, replace the sdmc:/boot.firm with Luma3DS v9.1 (or newer).

I'm looking to CFW my console but have a few questions beforehand. I'm hoping I can get some quick answers to these.

First, I don't care for the Homebrew Launcher at all. For me, it's just clutter in the home menu. Is it safe to uninstall the Homebrew Launcher after using it to install FBI, Checkpoint, Luma Updater, etc.?
Second, 3ds.hacks.guide swaps out the Download Play and Homebrew titles in order to install the initial CIAs (FBI, Checkpoint, etc.) Does this revert after a power cycle or is it permanent? If so, is it possible to use Health and Safety instead?
Third, I also don't need Nintendo Zone Viewer or Activity Log. If I understand correctly, removing these titles from the system could cause instability or a brick. Instead, is it possible to remove the icon from the home menu without removing the actual application?

Thanks in advance.

Ok you can safely remove the homebrew launcher cia. To access the homebrew menu afterwards do the following

  1. Launch the Download Play application
  2. Wait until you see the two buttons
  3. Press (L) + (Down) + (Select) at the same time to open the Rosalina menu
  4. Select “Miscellaneous options”
  5. Select “Switch the hb. title to the current app.”
  6. Press (B) to continue
  7. Press (B) to return to the Rosalina main menu
  8. Press (B) to exit the Rosalina menu
  9. Press (Home), then close Download Play
  10. Launch the Download Play application
  11. Your device should load homebrew browser.
  12. When you switch off your 3ds the download play app will restore back to normal

Removing both the Nintendo Zone Viewer or Activity Log won't cause a brick or instability problems whoever told you that was lying or misinformed. What will happen is as they are system apps your 3ds will continously ask you to update the system as the 3ds will notice it is missing system title's and then tells you to update.

  • You can skip the "Homebrew Launcher Wrapper" entirely if you don't want it on Home Menu.
  • You can start HB Launcher any time with Rosalina injection to Download Play.
  • Unless you explicitly save the settings this injection is gone after a reboot.

Oops.
I (finally) CFWed my 2ds xl and promptly deleted Activity Log, Health and Safety, and Ninty Zone Viewer. Problem is, I didn't delete the tickets as well. This means I won't ever be able to restore them if I need a repair from Ninty.because System Update doesn't reinstall system titles unless the tickets are also missing.
Unfortunately I don't have any way to identify those specific tickets, so I can't just delete them. Is there a way to find out which tickets belong to what?

Start fbi then select tickets. Now Press A on any ticket and you will get 2 options

1. Delete ticket
2. Delete unused tickets.

Select option 2 and your problem will be solved

If you saw that on a video guide, then you were looking at an outdated video guide – which is why you should not look at video guides. The guide at http://3ds.guide is up to date and is the only one you need.

Current methods that don't use a flashcard require you to update to the latest firmware.

If you read the guide, you would see that Frogminer is no longer the recommended method.

If you are so impatient that you can't be bothered to read the guide, then perhaps you should reconsider hacking your 3DS, as a lack of patience is what causes mistakes to happen.
