Thanks Fullmetal5 for this great exploit, and thanks Leseratte for the new Cios.

With this method you can recover many Nintendo Wii with Bricks.

Might actually be a good idea, not because it's large but because of my name Leseratte. The d2x is a shortcut for the names of the main developers, and a clean version "skip" / jump might not be the worst idea just in case there are any future updates to the non-mini cIOS.
I originally suggested it because of your name starting with an L, the extra large comment was a poorly executed joke. I know that d2x is coined after the contributors to the cios, heck one of the letters is for me, XFlak! Anyway, I would happily share an acronym with you

Soon

not that the other models of Wii lack exploits

Has anyone made a guide of what to do with a Wii that's hacked but haven't been touched in a decade. Well I am playing Sonic Heroes on it but I literally haven't updated anything in a long while.

I wonder if this will be ported to Android devices, would be useful for non Linux users also a lot more convenient, tho I don't think a lot of people will be interested in the Wii Mini considering it can't even do GameCube backward compatibility...

If you have a Windows PC handy, you may want to download Modmii and use it (either in the "syscheck and update" mode, or proceeding as if it's an unmodded console) - you'll end up with modern (C)IOS, and from there you can manually update individual homebrews by downloading them to SD/USB just as for adding them initially

As a rule of thumb if you know it was not improperly region changed from/to Korean you can just update it the official way and do as above

So, it's only available for Linux, huh? Good thing I run Ubuntu. :)

I think the Wii Mini is a good console. Just because it's so limited doesn't mean the games one enjoys won't be any fun. However, with so few people interested in the Wii Mini, having this exploit be Linux-only is probably not a bad thing, since more people use Windows anyway (depending on who you listen to). For those who don't have Linux and want to use the exploit, it's a good excuse to get it! :D

But I do not want to update the official firmware. I just want to run emulators and so on.

Really? Can you run this exploit on a fully bricked wii?!

I think not, but if you run an application like wad manage or enter homebrew channel with Bluebomb It solves problems such as banner brick or brick theme, thus basic brick.

Does this exploit affect other devices then the wii ?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also i never saw c code for bluetooth socket, but why bind/listen/accept with device name Nintendo RVL-CNT-01 ? Does the wii mini always try to connect to this specific device or it is the way you pair in bluetooth ?

The console only connects to Wii Remotes

Er, wow. I wasn't aware that wii games were still a thing.

Ubisoft said at some point not too long ago that they'll keep releasing it for the Wii every year, because it keeps selling well enough for it to be worth it. Humorously, they stopped making Wii U versions though, but in the process they now advertise on the box of each new yearly installment that the game is also compatible with the Wii U.

Just Dance is just a video player with a scoring system anyway. The only advantage the Wii U has is the HDMI output.

Oh for sure, the move totally makes sense, it's just funny. It'd be like if they were still making a game for the PS2 while not making it for the PS3 but also making it for the PS4.

For some reason the game series keeps selling for the Wii.

Anyway, I gotta figure how to play the Strong Bad game on my Wii. And run roms from an external CD thing.

Edit: I was sure I had a spare Wii, I don't but I have a two spare Gamecubes for some reason.

And a Dreamcast memory card still in the plastic thing it came with.
