I assume this can be done with a Raspberry Pi 3/4 too?
I truly hope so

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Is it too complicated to run an emulation of Linux on Windows in order to run this exploit ?
(Sorry if i've typed something wrong , but english is not my native language , as you can have guessed)

It does work on windows via a VM from reports, yet I'm not a fan of VM's, as I prefer to use an OS on a dedicated machine.

So this enables going online for the Wii Mini
No, this exploit definitely doesn't do that (though you may be able to do so after getting homebrew or getting access to the nand files in any imaginable way)

Windows doesn't allow you to disable the Microsoft Bluetooth stack to take complete control over the packets being sent out.
If someone reeeally wanted to port it they could install a WinUSB driver (or other generic interface) and port from scratch a generic bluetooth implementation... :P

Well, the exploit itself doesn't do anything about online mode, that's correct. But if you run the binary fullmetal5 provided ( https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/627601122432909323/627601969418338334/template.dol ), that enables online support. Just run this, connect a LAN adapter, and you are done.

For the Wii Mini? They'd have to start releasing Wii games on DVD again first.
Or push an update through server if you enabled internet on the wii mini :p might cause a brick because of other ios :o

I doubt they'll bother putting out an update for a 2 generation old system where they might get someone who hacked for online but didn't block updates (that is if the Wii Mini can even get updates)

When companies push out updates it's to prevent new people hacking, they know that it does nothing for the ones who already did.

Impressive how after so many years someone actually exploited the wii mini. Its a console that nobody cares about too. Things like this are giving me hope that the ps4 will get cfw one day

This is probably a stupid question but .... can this work on the regular Wii?
I'd love to test it for curiosity's sake.

edit: "Normal Wii System Menu support will be added in a bit." -- guess I should try reading OP first next time :P
System stability update incoming :P
4.4 on Just Dance 2020 disc.
Count on it. :ninja:

You'd most likely need a rooted Android device to send these low-level bluetooth packets. And I don't think that many people have a rooted phone. Easier to just set up a VM or quickly boot into a live linux distribution.

Windows doesn't allow you to disable the Microsoft Bluetooth stack to take complete control over the packets being sent out. It is highly unlikely, if not impossible, that this will ever work on Windows.

You know that's pretty much word for word what was said about the Wii Mini itself ever being hacked. And you don't have to use MSFT's stack (at least not on a decent version of Windows, such as 7).

Doesn't Android from before KitKat allow this sort of Bluetooth hacking? In fact I believe that is why a lot of Bluetooth-enabled apps stopped working under KitKat as it was "security patched" by Google.

Finally finished porting the first cIOS (based on d2x-v10-beta52 base 57). My tutorial at Wii-homebrew.com (german only unfortunately) includes a chapter about installing the cIOS: https://forum.wii-homebrew.com/index.php/Thread/59340-Homebrew-installieren-auf-der-Wii-Mini/

And here is the cIOS, in case someone wants to try it: https://wii.leseratte10.de/wii-mini/d2x-cIOS/
Maybe you should call it d2xl, lol, cuz it's extra large, jk

Edit: seriously though the L would stand for leseratte just how d2x stands for davebaol, xabby and XFlak

Might actually be a good idea, not because it's large but because of my name Leseratte. The d2x is a shortcut for the names of the main developers, and a clean version "skip" / jump might not be the worst idea just in case there are any future updates to the non-mini cIOS.
