I understand that I need to buy a game from the eShop but whoever owned this console prior (bought pre-owned through EB Games) already purchased Brain Training. Do I just need to redownload the title and it will suffice as an entrypoint for Haxchi?
As long as it's a legit copy installed if it's pirated u will have a nice Wii U brickI understand that I need to buy a game from the eShop but whoever owned this console prior (bought pre-owned through EB Games) already purchased Brain Training. I'm going through the shop to see what else was purchased and it looks like Brain Training is the only one, so I suspect the last owner also installed hacked it.
So are eShop purchases tied to the device and not the account? That's what confused me.
Thanks for the note about pirated entry point games. Seems odd that it comes up a fair bit, considering every guide has "MUST BE LEGITIMATED BOUGHT" multiple times.
That is not correct. The normal haxchi can be normally uninstalled in the data management. CBHC causes a brick if it's not properly uninstalled through the installer.Tied to the device and if haxchi is installed and u download it again will cause a brick
You can test it. Install haxchi on it. If it's a legit game, haxchi will work. If not, haxchi will not start. The normal haxchi comes with no risk of damaging your device.

tied to device ,just don't delete the user account from the wiiu, when i bought my wiiu it also had bt on it .if haxchi or other homebrew apps are not on the wiiu it has to be a legit game(check if it works)I'm going through the shop to see what else was purchased and it looks like Brain Training is the only one, so I suspect the last owner also installed hacked it.

BrainTraining was free for a limited time when it came out. When You are able to redownload it from the shop you are lucky. This is the kind of reassurance I was looking for, thanks!
Again, great note. All I have done so far on the console is set up a Nintendo Network ID and download pinball to test the console and controller, then found Brain Training already purchased, so I downloaded it.
I haven't even inserted the SD into the console yet haha!

I got it for free back then, thought its tied to the NNID.
Yes, try haxchi. This will be a good test. Keep in mind braintraining needs to stay like this - forever -
Definitely got lucky with the pre-owned then, as I made my NNID a few days ago. I've had a myNintendo account for a while though. Not sure why they're different =/Brain Training was for free if your NNID was registered before 2014.

Or in other words, until 2014
We had a case here where somebody "forgot" his CBHC (Cold boot hax chi) was installed in brain training. He installed a pirated version of the game (wanting to play it I guess). With overwriting the haxchi and BRICKING his wiiu. I think the same would happen when you or somebody deletes brain training by mistake. When you say like this, what do you mean?
if you install haxchi over bt it needs bt to work.no bt no haxchi.if you have cbhc and delete bt=brickWhen you say like this, what do you mean?

This is why I never installed CBHC (i have kids). clicking haxchi ones after start is not hard. All "brasilian" method games work without a haxchi start. eshop games will throw an error until you start haxchi or mocha once so sig patches are active.
You can use a free dlc ticket in zelda for example to unlock DLC even without sig patches active (ticket swap method).

Nothing happens as long as you don't uninstall it in the data management. Put a pin in it and you should be safe. This is why I never installed CBHC (i have kids). clicking haxchi ones after start is not hard
if you install zelda botw alone you will be able to launch it on console startup without having to do anything, if you install a non-legit dlc you will need to run haxchi before that. cbhc is just something that will auto-launch haxchi during the boot, but it have risks in my opinion as already statedAlso, Zelda BotW is a major reason I got a Wii U to begin with. Will CBHC make getting the DLC easier?
