Airplane Mode just delays a ban. If you notice, its been removed from the questionnaire. That's because as long as you enable Airplane Mode, you have pretty much banned yourself. Not to mention that Airplane Mode can get disabled when switching between handheld, docked, and sleep mode. The only real purpose of Airplane Mode is to prevent accidental connection to Nintendo Hotspots if your bringing the Switch out into the open.

Disable autoconnect in WiFi setting will prevent Switch from reconnecting to internet after airplane mode disables by accident, especially in docked, so that why some people didn't get a ban for running CFW in docked mode due to autoconnect disabled.

Okay, so when FW 6.0 came out a while back I forgot to check the precautions and accidentally got banned (console ban, not account ban). I've been considering to buy a new console and realized that I can transfer my account/save data to another console via the official system settings. What would happen if I were to try that? Would I need to wipe my banned switch of all homebrew related saves tied to my account? Is there a possibility of a ban on the new Switch? I would like to know beforehand so I can decide whether or not I'll devote the money to buying a new Switch.

Dumbass here. I had simply watched a Nevercholt Tech tutorial vid on YT to get ReiNX on 6.2 and completely overlooked backing up my NAND and disabling internet. As soon as I booted into CFW, I had launched Homebrew App Store and just looked at the catalog for a few moments before realizing the mistake I was making. This was about an hour before this post. I'm currently on stock FW playing Puyo Puyo Tetris online to see If I'm banned or not. Is it only a matter of time from now?

Another user made a brief tutorial on how to manually "clean" out the NAND if you are willing to give it a shot. It may be a thread on EmuNAND but the part on "Cleaning up SysNAND" may come in handy. I cannot guarantee whether this method is safe or not however.

ok, so I have been in 5.1 for some while now and have been occasionally using reinx for homebrew only stuff. since 6.2 support was announce and recently getting smash, I decided to update the system since I felt I wasn't missing anything by updating. However it turns out after updating, I wasn't able to update my software or access the e-shop due to a pop up claiming Nintendo restricting my online access. According to the op I'm getting a normal ban since the error codes for e-shop and software updates are 2181-4007 and 4008. Don't exactly know what caused the ban but I felt to report it here.

This is the reason you were banned. You updated your .XCI files online which voided your clean NAND. Then when you restored your clean NAND, you sent a red flag to Nintendo since now they could tell you flashed a NAND backup (because it differed from the tainted NAND you used when you updated your backups).
hi! thanks for your reply! i ask to you too.. i'm safe to use legit game cart on new console untouched only for online playing that i have used before on banned console?
thanks!

If you never went online with that cartridge with the banned console, you will be fine. If you did go online with that cartridge on the banned console, there is a hypothetical risk in getting that console banned but as long as the other console is not hacked, its safe.

Hello wanted to ask just recently got a switch and seems that it is hackable . I was looking into getting the ns atmosphere white dongle with the jig. As it is cost friendly though i am also reading about ways to in some way get online. What i want is the ability to get online with legit games . I have been reading about stuff like emunand . But the thing is as any tutorial i read only mentions sx os . Which is another dongle i presume that also requires a license . I cant seem to find any other info regarding this . Is it the only way to setuo emunand or can i do it with any dongle/payload. As this seems the one of the ways where you dont need to keep restoring your nand backups to play legit just by keeping them separate . I understand the risks and know that this still has a chance of getting me banned . But i just want to know my options and if there are any tutorials to read about . Unless there is a completely alternative ehay which i am missing (besides buying a second switch).Thank you

The only safe method is to keep your switch unhacked. Some folks have not been banned using emunand for CFW, while keeping OFW untouched for legit games. This may be a possible option, but what Nintendo will do in the future is unknown.

Only SX OS has emunand at this current point in time.

Hello all,
I've been using SX OS since it was readily available for US shipping. I've updated the console and even a few games over the internet. I've never played anything online whatsoever, nor do I really have any desire to. Never used homebrew or NSP installers. Currently on 6.0.0 OS.

Also, a NAND backup in this stage of my console wouldn't be worth anything right? I am currently creating one just because. But I am assuming since my system isn't really "clean" the backup probably won't be of any benefit.

Been reading through the thread (backwards) so I may come across the answer eventually.

Really just curious if I should do anything at this stage or just keep rawdogging it as I've been.

Thanks,

If you're feeling paranoid, you can follow this tutorial on a way to clean your SysNAND without a NAND backup but I can't advise anything about its safety or guarantee.

xD . Im sitting on two mod-able devices i bought on BF weekend and having trouble returning one, I was thinking of running cfw on one with no care of a ban, and leaving the other clean or selling one. my 3ds has my nintendo id on it and has been running cfw since i got it with no ban. Im wondering if nintendo does ban my 3ds would they also ruing the ability to go online on a clean never tampered with system just because i own it with the i.d.?

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this question but I figured it's the best place to do so. So in the past I've had SX OS. Had it since early July and still not banned. I did use a save editor to fiddle with my Xenoblade 2 save. I want to buy Splatoon 2 and for some reason I have a feeling that game has the harshest 'detectability" I guess to see if I've used a save editor. Does anyone think if I bought and ran splatoon 2 I'd be banned if it picks up on using the save file manager? Keep in mind I never used it with Splatoon 2. Just XBC2

Considering that most, if not all, of the homebrew only bans involved someone using a save editor/dumper with Splatoon 2, it might be the closest thing we have to "insta-ban".

I'm thinking about get Splatoon 2 to play offline, so use edited save shouldn't be issue if played 100% offline?

From my knowledge of what ive read, there is never 100% guarantee. I would suspect that if you manipulated your save and even went online with different game that info "could" be sent to Nintendo. The advice ive received here and elsewhere is to expect a ban so its not a shock when it happens

You'd (probably) have to edit the splatoon 2 save for it to register if you're worried about the save being the culprit.

Quick question: are there any confirmed console bans after transferring an account from a banned switch to a new one? I'm planning on getting a second switch for online play at some point.
