I don't know all countries laws but in some it's perfectly legal as long as you don't ship patented work, for example copying Nintendo FW and removing security is illegal, putting a chunk of code into memory to remove those is legal

At the same time, most of the easy stuff for Atmosphere has been done. The time in between commits is bound to increase. Either way, remember that some members of the "scene" are against piracy. Surely they would also be against a company profiting from piracy. At the end of the day, it's a question of morals. Remember, Atmosphere won't load backups the same way that the SX OS does. The current RomFS replacement being used for piracy is an unintended side effect.
