As a new member I don't think I can post links, I'll PM you it though.

I couldn't find the PM option. Just google "Reswitched Discord" and that should get you there.

I honestly find this very sad. Any sane human being who is familiar with Scires and understands the process of developing something knows that progress for this is made in multiple ways. He's only doing this in his spare time and is being nice enough to share with the rest of the community. If you're being impatient about Atmosphere's release, then you should take responsibility and start contributing to the open-source repo to speed up the process. It really is too bad he doesn't accept donations, though. Maybe he'll appreciate a nice cookie or two for his hard work.
Honestly the biggest thing preventing me from contributing is that I am absolute ass when it comes to pointer-based languages like C and C++. Even Objective-C gives me a headache. I use Java and Swift's superior memory management as a crutch.

I don't know all countries laws but in some it's perfectly legal as long as you don't ship patented work, for example copying Nintendo FW and removing security is illegal, putting a chunk of code into memory to remove those is legal

At the same time, most of the easy stuff for Atmosphere has been done. The time in between commits is bound to increase. Either way, remember that some members of the "scene" are against piracy. Surely they would also be against a company profiting from piracy. At the end of the day, it's a question of morals. Remember, Atmosphere won't load backups the same way that the SX OS does. The current RomFS replacement being used for piracy is an unintended side effect.

The main issue here I guess for piracy (cheating is even worse) is that developers might be afraid of selling their games on Nintendo because of piracy risk,
But weirdly this "fear" does exist only with gaming consoles, for example no one on iOS will say "Hey wait we can install any application on an iPhone by signing it with our own keys, it's too risky" (same for PC, Android etc),
More and more games will have online features therefore we can check the licensing and some games can only work online,
Because online services are now well protected I guess that fear tend to vanish because the majority of players use their stuff like it was intended and never try to crack it, so if those legits gamers who are paying for a game and a service are well protected against online cheat bull shit the Switch will remain a good choice for players and developers because still safer than PC, Android, iOS and onlines services are handled by NIntendo,

And we can even dev on the go, have you ever seen a Xbox developer in a train ?!
I do think that Nintendo Switch will remain a great platform for players and developers even tho it was cracked[/QUOTE]
I understand your points but they all seem like they are your personal opinion and not fact. Where have you seen companies being afraid to release their product on a Nintendo system due to piracy concerns? It sounds like all speculation.

I never said it was the case, actually I said that even cracked the Switch is safer than a PC or a Phone

Couldn't have put it better myself. :)

Yeah it's still being worked on there are some tricky technical implementation issues they have to conquer now but it's getting there.

I don't think we can confirm this enough: Commits generally only happen when some portion of the code can be considered complete. They will not be committing to the remote repository on any particular schedule. I've had whole 2-week sprints at work where only a few pushes/PRs were done because the features we're working on are that complex. This is normal even for people getting paid to write code. And this project certainly isn't paid.

No, it's still in development but most of the easy stuff has been taken care of so now they're knocking out the hard stuff. Patience is a virtue, it's free and will be done when it's done.

Proof to any of this?

Sounds like you guys are just talking out of your ass

Stop pretending to be "in the know"

While I'm not part of the project itself, I do work in the application development field. I can assure you, this is normal during the rough/complex portion of any project.

Also, somewhere in this thread is a screenshot of Scires himself admitting to just this. It's not even that far back, maybe 3 or 4 pages?

The proof is in the pudding. It's open source and you can follow the commits that have been added. Also I follow the dev's progress on the ReSwitched discord daily. Not pretending about anything or talking out my ass, I've been following this closely since day one.

I'm "in the know" and I can confirm it is definitely going to be released this year, with emuNAND and may or may not include other features, for certain. Read now, quote me later.

the biggest feature is a way to disable the nsw from sending error logs to bigN servers to prevent bans for homebrew

That sounds excellent, but I wonder if we'll ever reach a point where we're confident in such a feature. There could always be one more report that we miss, one little check that we overlooked...

I am not sure but this will allow you to play Nintendo Switch backup games ? I want to understand what's going on.
It won't right away, someone will have to code a backup loader separately after it is released. If you want to play backups now, you need to buy an SX OS or Pro, or, use the trick with Hekate. For details you should see the Backups forum.
