Is the new Hakchi out? How were you able to put roms on the SNES clasic edition? (Sorry for the many questions)
I updated hakachi to add games to snes just u got have it as sfrom.

You just need to use Photoshop to make a .png of specific size, then fit your art into the canvas. Try using 228 x 160 pixels.

If you're on a *nix operating system (Linux, macOS, BSD, etc) you can use this shell script I wrote to make converting an entire folder of ROMs a piece of cake.

for f in *.s?c; do echo "\"./$f\"" && python3 sfc2sfrom.py ./$f ./${f%.s?c}.sfrom; doneCopy and save into a file called convert.sh and save it to the ROMs folder. The sfc2sfrom.py script also needs to be in this folder! You can execute it from the terminal by navigating to that folder and running:

Someone on reddit made folders work BUT instructions not 100% clear leaves enough out i dunno what to do (like where to make the sub directory etc etc)
"First, create a folder application folder. It will contain 3 files, the 2 image elements .png for the folder images you want to use, and the .desktop file. Inside the .desktop file make sure the Exec is "/bin/chmenu XXX". The XXX is the subfolder you will create to store the extra games. In the subfolder you create make sure you create a similar folder application element back to the original folder where XXX is 000. chmenu, located in /var/lib/hakchi/rootfs/bin, does need to be edited so that the snes does not crash by commenting out the lines related to the copyright symbolic link which does not exist anymore."

I'm also spotting activity on Cluster's GitHub, he just commissioned something about 25 min ago. But that too is peculiar, sounds a bit risky ATM.
